Full casting has been announced for the new musical THE GREAT COMET, featuring the Broadway debuts of 18 cast and creative team members including Josh Groban as 'Pierre' and Denee Benton as 'Natasha.' TDF Stages, Theatre Development Fund's online magazine, with features that focus on the process of making theatre from the artist's point of view, has just added to its dance coverage. Today, TDF Stages has launched a new short documentary film series, MEET THE DANCE COMPANY.  The first company bring profiled is Sidra Bell Dance New York. Upcoming films will highlight Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion, Dorrance Dance and Big Dance Theater. These short films are generally four minutes in length.

Nancy Manocherian's the cell presents the World Premiere of SHOES & BAGGAGE, a one-woman musical about the "high of the buy." Written and performed by Broadway veteran Cheryl Stern (La Cage Aux Folles, The Women), it is directed by Joe Barros with music by Emmy Award-winning composer Tom Kochan. Previews begin May 5 at the cell with opening slated for Thursday, May 12. NOTE: this limited engagement is produced on an Off-Broadway contract.

Following the wildly successful concert version at The Geary Theater in spring 2015, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) will present a brand-new, fully staged production of Jason Robert Brown's acclaimed musical, The Last Five Years (May 11-June 5, 2016).

The Blank Theatre in Hollywood is now accepting scripts for its 2016-2017 Living Room Series. Submissions will be accepted between March 1 and May 31, 2016.

Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. The Directors Company, in association with Pascal Productions, will present A BETTER PLACE, a new work by playwright Wendy Beckett (Anais Nin: One Of Her Lives, A Charity Case) and directed by Evan Bergman (Love Therapy), will play a limited six-week engagement this spring at The Duke on 42nd Street, a NEW 42ND STREET project (229 West 42nd Street, between 7th and 8th Avenues).

The Public Theater presents the new musical SOUTHERN COMFORT that tells the true story of a group of transgender friends living life on their own terms in the back hills of rural Georgia. SOUTHERN COMFORT begins previews tonight, February 23 and will run through Sunday, March 27 in The Public's Anspacher Theater, with an official press opening on Monday, March 7. 

While she's living the dream in NYC, Maria Briggs is back in the Twin Cities this month to play Val in A CHORUS LINE at the Ordway in Saint Paul.

The 61st Annual Drama Desk Awards will be held Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 8:00 PM at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street), it was announced today by Charles Wright, Drama Desk President and Gretchen Shugart, CEO of TheaterMania.com.

Just in, multiple-time Tony and Drama Desk nominees Kate Baldwin, John Cariani, Marc Kudisch, Julia Murney, Mary Testa, Max von Essen, will be some of the performers at Transport Group's annual gala, 'Gimme a Break!' on March 7, 2016.

Yale Repertory Theatre presents the world premiere of THE MOORS by Jen Silverman, directed by Jackson Gay, beginning tonight, January 29, where it will run through February 20 at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street). Opening Night is Thursday, February 4.

Following their NYITA-nominated inaugural production, Happy Few Theatre Company presents the world premiere of the goodbye room, a thoughtful family drama, written by the company's co-artistic director Eric Gilde.  Fourteen performances will be staged from March 3-19, 2016 at The Bridge Theatre at Shetler Studios, 244 West 54th Street, New York, NY 10019.
