Due to popular demand, August Wilson play extends to May 4, 2014

A John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts commissioned piece for its Theatre for Young Audiences division, 'Orphie and the Book of Heroes' is smart, funny, original, and bursting with potential.

The Kennedy Center presents the world premiere production of Orphie and the Book of Heroes in the Family Theater, today, February 8 - 23, 2014.

According to the news, on the same day that a giant horde of sea hawks from Seattle, Washington, pulverized an equally as large but not quite as majestic army of broncos from Colorado in East Rutherford, New Jersey, another battle was being waged in the Folger Shakespeare Theatre. This battle, however, was between Richard III and the rest of the world.

Written by veteran journalist, author, and playwright-yes, playwright-Jim Lehrer, starring celebrated Washington actor Rick Foucheux, and directed by Jeremy Skidmore, this one-man play reveals the extraordinary life of Alexander Graham Bell. The production will open at National Geographic headquarters tonight, September 12, and will run through Saturday, September 21.
