Disney's Beauty and the Beast, the award-winning worldwide smash hit Broadway musical, presented locally by Omaha Performing Arts and Broadway Across America, is coming to Omaha. Produced by NETworks Presentations, this elaborate theatrical production will come to life on stage at the Orpheum Theater, Tuesday, June 22 through Sunday, June 27, 2010.

Pittsburgh CLO and Nederlander Alliances LLC announced today Kathie Lee Gifford will host the 2nd Annual National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) on Monday, June 28 at the Marquis Theatre (1535 Broadway).

As the theatrical community of NY gathered on the Great White Way to celebrate their own for the 2010 TONY AWARDS, the Los Angeles thespian society congregated 3000 miles away to cheer their colleagues via a LIVE feed, courtesy of Direct TV, as THE ACTORS FUND and host Tommy Tune honored TONY Award-winner Brian Stokes Mitchell at their 14th Annual Tony Awards Party with the Julie Harris Award. Former High School chum and dance partner Annette Bening presented the award in recognition of not only 'Stokes' theatrical accomplishments, but also his leadership as Chairman of the Board of The Actors Fund. The gala, which included a memorable performance of 'You Made Me Love You' by Lorna Luft dedicated to the evening's honoree, was produced and written by Marc Cherry and David Rambo.

Broadway legend Tommy Tune has put his multi-million dollar Park Avenue South penthouse up for sale in Manhattan. In an exclusive video, New York Magazine takes a walk-through tour of his former home, complete with top of the line furnishings, access to his own personal roof space and, most notably, the star's nine Tony Awards atop a fireplace mantle. Tune decided to sell the penthouse in order to accomodate the needs of his pet Yorkie, Shubert. The deluxe pad in New York's Flatiron district is not going for a song, however - the asking price for the home is currently a hefty $2.35 million dollars. Last night, June 7, The American Theatre Wing brought together the best of Broadway for their Annual Spring Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street. Celebrating the centennial of Tony Award-winning composer Frank Loesser, Heart and Soul: The Legacy of Frank Loesser featured performances by Harry Connick, Jr., Megan Mullally, Kelli O'Hara and more.

This week, we are highlighting the unparalleled career of legendary director/choreographer Michael Bennett with a newly unearthed clip of the original Broadway cast of A JOYFUL NOISE performing Bennett's choreography on the Ed Sullivan Show, as well as a near-three-hour interview with his associates that was recorded last week as part of a benefit for Dancers Over 40 also titled A JOYFUL NOISE. There's certainly a lot to love and embrace here in this crash-course in Bennett for the uninitiated among us.

Fred Astaire's widow, Robyn, filed a suit May 28 seeking to block what she says is unauthorized use of the Astaire name by the coming Fred and Adele Astaire Awards. The news was reported by the New York Times.
