As BroadwayWorld previously announced, ANN, the new critically acclaimed play written and performed by Emmy Award-winning actress Holland Taylor and directed by Benjamin Endsley Klein, has been extended through Sunday, September 1, 2013, on Broadway at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). As the top recipient of the Cuyahoga County Arts and Culture's 'Creative Culture' grant, The Dancing Wheels Company will initiate a year-long campaign to bring new hope and a vision of possibility to those who have struggled with the indignities of bullying and other social injustices. The springboard for the campaign is the world premiere of Daring to be Dumbo, an eye-opening production performed by Dancing Wheels' dancers with and without disabilities and choreographed by the esteemed film maker, director and choreographer David Rousseve.

Last week, schools across the nation participated in the annual event "Musicals In Our Schools Week"; an advocacy program that shines a spotlight on the importance of musical theater in our schools through the support of iTheatrics. Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS), along with The Humphreys School of Musical Theatre (HSMT) and The River Performing and Visual Arts Center, is honored to provide continued quality arts programs within the Houston community year round. "Each day, TUTS actively pursues its mission of producing musicals and education programs for adults and children in schools, community centers, hospitals and parks. We reach over 220,000 people each year all over the greater Houston area, of all economic backgrounds and all physical abilities." said Bob Lawson, Director of Education at TUTS.

The Klein Oak Fine Arts Department, whose recent production of SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET, earned Tommy Tune Award nominations in 14 of the 15 categories will participate in the Awards show on April 16. Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) announced today Dixie's Tupperware Party, the show starring Dixie Longate which turned Off-Broadway into a Tupperware-mania celebration and garnered a Drama Desk Award Nomination, rolls into the Hobby Center's Zilkha Hall June 4 - 16.

Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston has been nominated for 10 Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Awards in the Large Theater category for 2012. 'Bye Bye Birdie' received eight nominations, including Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for Anita Gillette (Chapter Two, Moonstruck, 30 Rock). 'A Chorus Line' and 'My Fair Lady' each earned one nomination.

John C. Breckenridge, President and CEO of Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS), announced today the nominations and presenters for TUTS' eleventh annual Tommy Tune Awards which will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Developed by TUTS, the Tommy Tune Awards honor musical theatre excellence at the high school level. Co-hosts for the award ceremony include Jim Bernhard and Sarah Pepper.

It's almost spring, which means that high school musical theatre season has wrapped and teachers and students are focusing on UIL One Act competitions. However, the people at TUTS are getting ready for their annual high school musical theatre awards show, the extravagant Tommy Tune Awards. I recently chatted with Geneva Cisneros at TUTS about the program, getting some nice inside scoop and history behind the popular event.
