Birmingham Repertory Theatre today announces its new season of work for Autumn and Winter 2016, including three world premieres alongside a dynamic programme of new stagings of classic plays and brilliant stories. It also announces a new initiative, Furnace, which furthers The REP's commitment to making world class theatre with and for people across Birmingham.

The Quiet House, Gareth Farr's blistering and honest new play about a couple's journey to start a family, will play at Park Theatre from June 7 to July 9, with a press night on June 8, following its world premiere at Birmingham Repertory Theatre next month. It was inspired by Gareth's own experience, and is his second play following his 2014 Bruntwood Prize-winning debut, Britannia Waves The Rules.

Folk, the highly anticipated new play by Tom Wells opens at Birmingham Repertory Theatre in April. Joyful and poignant, Folk is a hilarious and not-so-holy story of hope, coming together and finding your feet when your world is turned upside down. 

The Lyric Hammersmith today announces its Spring 2016 Season. They will present the first professional production of Simon Stephen's HERONS since the play premiered at the Royal Court in 2001, directed by the Lyric's Artistic Director Sean Holmes. This is followed by the return of their co- production with Filter Theatre of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM last staged in 2012. Whilst the Royal Opera will present, two contemporary operas, PLEASURE by Mark Simpson featuring well-known British soprano Lesley Garrett and the world premiere of Sarah Kane's 4:48 PSYCHOSIS by Philip Venables, both presented in association with the Lyric.

This winter the Lyric Hammersmith will stage two delightful productions that are sure to add some sparkle to the festive season. This year's Lyric pantomime, CINDERELLA, will dazzle audiences in the Main House while the charming and lovable Raymond Briggs' FATHER CHRISTMAS returns to enchant under 6s in the Lyric Studio.

The Lyric Hammersmith today announces full casting for its Christmas panto, Cinderella. Grab your glittery Converse and put the pumpkin into top gear as Cinderella heads to the biggest party of the season to meet a very charming Prince. Following the success of Jack and the Beanstalk and Dick Whittington and his Cat, Award-winning playwright Tom Wells pens another traditional panto with plenty of festive fun in true Lyric style.

Jonathan Coe's The Rotters' Club, Gareth Farr's The Quiet House and Tom Wells' Folk will receive their stage premieres at Birmingham Repertory Theatre next year. Classic Stage Company (CSC) will host a one-night-only staged reading of an exciting new version of the hit off-Broadway play, The Secret Court (formerly titled Unnatural Acts), to benefit The Trevor Project on Monday, March 30, 2015. The special event will be held at 7:00 p.m. at CSC (136 East Thirteenth Street, between Third & Fourth Avenues) and will feature members of the original off-Broadway cast, followed by comments by Amit Paley, the man who uncovered the long hidden files that inspired the play.

Full casting is announced today for the first production in the Gate Theatre's Freedom Burning season, Andrew Whaley's award-winning play The Rise and Shine of Comrade Fiasco - a witty and energised allegory of life in post-colonial Zimbabwe. The production is directed by Elayce Ismail, the recipient of this year's JP Morgan Award for Emerging Directors. She directs Gary Beadle (Jungle), Kurt Egyiawan (Chidhina), Joan Iyiola (Febi) and Abdul Salis (Fiasco).

Directed by the Royal Court's International Associate Richard Twyman and set in Palestine, the play is inspired by recent events in Gaza and gives new insight to the impact of war on childhood. The Royal Court has been working in Palestine since 1998, the first workshop was held at the Paradise hotel in Bethlehem and led by playwright Stephen Jeffreys, director Phyllida Lloyd and Royal Court International Director Elyse Dodgson. Fireworks has been developed with The Royal Court International Department over the last two years, and marks the first full production by an emerging Palestinian playwright which has been developed and staged by the company.
