Once upon a time, Fort Smith was considered the gateway to the Wild West (Indian Territory—present-day Oklahoma), and in turn, it had a very wild history to go with it. So, it is fitting that the first show I saw with The Community School of the Arts and Institute for the Creative Arts is Chicago: Teen Edition, performed March 13-16 in the beautiful King Opera House in Van Buren, which is just next door.
"Henry IV," staged by Tony Award winning director Daniel Sullivan, features Harry Groener as Northumberland, Tom Hanks in his Los Angeles stage debut as Sir John Falstaff, Hamish Linklater as Hal, Joe Morton as Henry IV, and Tony winner Rondi Reed as Mistress Quickly.

The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles (SCLA), under the artistic direction of Ben Donenberg, returns to The Japanese Garden on the West Los Angeles VA Campus with a new production - 'Henry IV' - condensing two of Shakespeare's plays and staged by Tony Award winning director Daniel Sullivan. The world-class acting company includes Tom Hanks as Falstaff and Rita Wilson; with additional cast members to be announced shortly, as confirmed. Tom Ware is the executive producer.
On Sunday, August 20, Guild Hall presents a staged reading of 'Only A Kingdom' directed by Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award-winner Michael Wilson (The Trip to Bountiful, The Best Man), with book, music and lyrics by Judith Shubow Steir, and orchestration and arrangements by Peter Mansfield.
