American Theater Company announces Town Hall, a series of interdisciplinary artistic events that spark debate on a national issue. In collaboration with Stella Adler Studio of Acting's Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater Company and the Illinois Single Payer Coalition ATC proudly presents Mercy Killers, written and performed by Michael Milligan, directed by Tom Oppenheim. Mercy Killers is the winner of a prestigious First Fringe Award from The Scotsman for best new writing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, receiving rave reviews calling the play, '...shattering' (The Stage) and '...theatre distilled to its most basic essentials' (The Scotsman).
The Stella Adler Studio of Acting has announced that it is the recipient of a prestigious 21st Century Community Learning Center grant through the U.S. Department of Education, which will allow the studio to create an acting school experience in seven low-income Bronx middle schools. The program will be implemented for three years, beginning with the 2013-2014 school year. Over 900 students will participate in 24 weeks of coursework, which will include ensemble, voice and speech, movement and improvisation lessons.

A new production of Hikobae, a play about the medical staff who risked their lives following the devastating earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disasters that struck Japan on March 11, 2011 will premiere in Los Angeles tonight, March 30th & the 31st and New York on April 5th & 6th. Hikobae honors the first responders and those who lost their lives in the disaster. The significance of remembering the victims and sacrifices of the first responders is particularly relevant two years following the events of 3/11.

Dr. West values arts education for disadvantaged youth and is an aficionado of legendary acting teacher Stella Adler. As part of the Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts, Dr. West will participate in a panel discussion about the relationship between access to arts education and economic and social justice. The panel will follow a performance of Julius Caesar by students of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting's Outreach Division.
