The Metropolitan Opera's 2014-15 season kicked off with the controversial John Adams's The Death of Klinghoffer, conducted by David Robertson and directed by Tom Morris.

Metropolitan Opera's General Manager, Peter Gelb, wrote in the NY Post: 'Monday night's premiere of “The Death of Klinghoffer” was not one of the easiest nights in the history of The Metropolitan Opera, but it was one of the most important.'

The global theatre phenomenon, WAR HORSE will be making its South African premiere later this year, beginning with a season at The Teatro at Montecasino in Johannesburg in October before transferring to the Artscape Opera House in Cape Town in December.

Yesterday (Sunday 19 October 2014), best-selling author Michael Morpurgo was joined by Joey, the life-size horse puppet and star of the National Theatre's production of War Horse visiting the poppies installation at the Tower of London. Joey walked amongst the poppies and Michael Morpurgo planted a poppy and then returned to read the Roll of Honour. The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera's award-winning series of live transmissions to more than 2,000 movie theaters in 65 countries around the world, will feature ten operas in the 2014-15 season, including all six new productions in the Met season. Now celebrating its 30th anniversary year, Works & Process at the Guggenheim is pleased to announce its fall 2014 season, including three offsite programs presented in collaboration with El Museo del Barrio and The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center.

Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Artistic Director Gemma Bodinetz will direct Sean O'Casey's Juno and the Paycock in a major co-production with Bristol Old Vic. The cast will be led by Niamh Cusack as the eponymous Juno and Des McAleer as her husband Jack Boyle. The production is at Bristol Old Vic from 5 to 27 September before moving to the Liverpool Playhouse from 1 to 18 October.

The National Theatre's hugely popular adaptation of Ross Collins' much loved children's picture book The Elephantom, about a little girl who is unexpectedly visited by a giant blue ghost-elephant, officially opened this weekend at the New London Theatre where it will run in the daytime until 6 September 2014. On Saturday 20 September 2014 at 2pm the National Theatre's internationally acclaimed award-winning stage production of Michael Morpurgo's War Horse will hold a relaxed performance at the New London Theatre in association with The National Autistic Society (NAS), the UK's leading charity for people with autism and their families.

The North American touring production of WAR HORSE will conclude this summer as the highest grossing and most attended touring non-musical play in US history, recouping its investment in the process. The tour, which opened in June 2012 at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, has been seen by over 1.1 million audience members to date and, by its conclusion, will have played 68 engagements and 749 performances. The tour's final stop will be a four-week run at Tokyo's Theatre Orb, marking the play's Asian debut.

The National Theatre of Great Britain's epic WAR HORSE, winner of five 2011 Tony Awards including Best Play, will make its Nashville premiere at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Andrew Jackson Hall beginning today, June 3-8.

On the heels of Memorial Day, Broadway Across America - Houston is presenting the First US National Tour of the acclaimed play WAR HORSE. The visually spectacular production first premiered on London's Off-West End in the Olivier Theatre at the National Theatre. It transferred to the West End's New London Theatre, where it is still running. It enjoyed Broadway success at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at New York City's Lincoln Center. The Belgrade Theatre has announced that Engineer Theatre Collective transfer their award-winning piece of verbatim theatre, Missing, to Coventry in May 2014 following a highly successful London run. Missing is performed from Fri 23rd- Sat 24th May at the Belgrade Theatre as part of the Coventry Mysteries Festival.
