Seems like only yesterday my mother was dragging a 6-year-old me, literally kicking and screaming, from below the marquee of the Martin Beck Theatre (now the Al Hirschfeld) to the Winter Garden Theatre where Cats was playing. (I wanted desperately to see Into the Woods, but a family 'friend' told my parents that Cats would be more appropriate for my age group. Thanks for ruining my life, lady.) In the right light, you can still to this day see my claw marks scraped along 45th Street.

Theoni V. Aldredge, the costume designer of the original stage version of 'La Cage aux Folles' and 'Annie' on Broadway, died Friday morning in Connecticut, according to the New York Times. She was 88.
As BroadwayWorld reported, Theoni V. Alredge, the costume designer for such Broadway stage hits as A Chorus Line, the original production of La Cage Aux Folles and Annie, has passed away after suffering from an infection. She was 78 years old.
BroadwayWorld has spoken to A Chorus Line's original Cassie, Donna McKechnie, who worked with Alredge throughout the development of the show, collaborating with her in creating Cassie's now iconic red leotard/skirt ensemble.
