Even as Special Agent Jess Harkins interrogates the members of the squad about Fitch's possible involvement in the headline-making crime, Fitch and Washington are busy investigating a bizarre case... Three murder victims are found on a public bus with thousands of dollars floating around the crime scene. But the case takes an even stranger turn when the detectives try to track the money, find the missing bus driver, identify the victims and discover a kidnapping gone awry. Will Fitch's usual no-holds-barred effort be enough to bring the murderer to justice? Perhaps the line best explains why the opening night audience in attendance at the play's world premiere presentation was a bit more forgiving with this rather flawed production: the play's subject, Lucille Ball, truly was loved by many. Even two decades after her passing, this gigantic icon in the entertainment world remains a national treasure, thanks to the eponymous sitcom that showcased her unmistakable comic talents. Unfortunately, this well-meaning but ultimately one-note tribute to a shining star lacks a bit of polish.

Though idiots like the academic assortment of Richard Nelson's Some Americans Abroad, his 1989 satire of Yankee cultural self-loathing, may be high on Gilbert and Sullivan's Lord High Executioner's little list of those whose loss would be a distinct gain to society at large, this verbose crew would undoubtedly escape the axman's blade. After all, they have tenure. And just like, as one character argues, a life sentence with no chance of execution gives a convict the freedom to kill a prison guard without fear of harsher punishment, tenure is the desired life sentence that defends these plastic-souled elitists against the consequences of their own ignorance.
