Photo Coverage: THE PHILANTHROPIST Meets the Press!

Steven Weber, Jonathan Cake join Matthew Broderick in the Roundabout Theater Company revival of 'The Philanthropist.' Weber will play a friend of the leading character portrayed by Broderick in Christopher Hampton's 1970 take on 'The Misanthrope,' while Cake will play a writer. Anna Madeley is the female lead, reprising a role she played in the 2005 staging of the play at the Donmar Warehouse. Tate Ellington, Jennifer Mudge and Samantha Soule complete the rest of the casting. The cast met the press at at The American Airlines Theatre Penthouse in New York City. March 20, 2009 and BWW was there!

A cornerstone of twentieth century theatre, Waiting for Godot was Samuel Beckett's first professionally produced play. It premiered in Paris in 1953 and premiered on Broadway in 1956 at the John Golden Theatre. Beckett's language pioneered an expressionistic minimalism that captured the existentialism of post-World War II Europe.

The New York Post's Michael Riedel is reporting in his 'On Broadway' column this morning that the mother and daughter team of Vanessa Redgrave and Natasha Richardson had such a wonderful time performing in the Roundabout gala benefit reading of Stephen Sondheim's 'A Little Night Music' last month that they're up for a full-fledged revival on Broadway next year.

THE 39 STEPS Plays Its 400th Performance On 2/20

Alfred Hitchcock's THE 39 STEPS, Broadway's longest running comedy, will play its 400th performance on Friday, February 20th. Now in its second smash year, the Tony Award-winning quick change comedy version of Hitchcock's classic film thriller is playing at the Helen Hayes Theatre (240 West 44th Street). THE 39 STEPS is adapted by Patrick Barlow and directed by Maria Aitken. The production is based on an original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon and on the book by John Buchan.

Sienna Miller has been named ShoWest Supporting Actress of the Year, it was announced today by Mitch Neuhauser, co-managing director of the event, which will be held March 30-April 2, 2009, in Las Vegas. Miller will be presented with the ShoWest Supporting Actress of the Year Award at ShoWest's Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony on Thursday, April 2nd, at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas.

Ms. Ebersole sang 'Happy Birthday' to Mr. Lane in the style of Marilyn Monroe.
