The Public Theater presents the New York Premiere of PARTY PEOPLE by UNIVERSES (Steven Sapp, Mildred Ruiz-Sapp, and William Ruiz a.k.a Ninja). Developed and directed by Liesl Tommy with choreography by Millicent Johnnie, PARTY PEOPLE began performances on November 1 and runs through Sunday, December 4, with an official press opening tonight, November 15.
The OBIE Award-winning NAATCO, National Asian American Theater Company, concludes their 25th anniversary season with the New York Premiere of MJ Kaufman's Sagittarius Ponderosa. Ken Rus Schmoll directs an all-Asian American cast that includes Daniel K. Isaac (of TV's 'Billions'), Mia Katigbak, Glenn Kubota, Bex Kwan and Virginia Wing. This Off-Broadway limited engagement at 3LD (80 Greenwich Street at Rector) will continue through November 19th only.
Director Nicole Hand has announced her cast for Promethean Theatre Ensemble's January production of Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice, a look at the Greek myth of Orpheus through the eyes of his doomed bride, whose voice is typically missing from her own story. Appearing as Eurydice will be Janeane Bowlware (below left),* of Promethean's Bury the Dead, Linchpin's King John and Red Tape'sChurch/Pullman. Her husband Orpheus will be played by Jordan Golding (below right), a recent graduate of Oberlin College who has also studied at the British American Drama Academy in London.

Tony Award-winner Laura Benanti made her Cafe Carlyle debut last night and Broadwayworld was there. The five-time Tony nominee opened the Carlyle's fall season with Tales from Soprano Isle, which featured songs from Laura's career along with humorous anecdotes and experiences that she has encountered on and off the stage and screen. Laura just completed her Tony nominated role as Amalia Balash in the hit Broadway musical She Loves Me, She also recently garnered rave reviews for her hilarious portrayal of Melania Trump on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Laura told the opening night Cafe Carlyle audience that it was not only her Cafe' debut. As she gently patted her 5 month pregnant tummy she said it was also her daughter's.
