Romare Bearden's URBAN RHYTHMS & DREAMS OF PARADISE Exhibition Opens at ACA, 11/3

Are you ready to have a good time?" asks timbales player and band leader Pete Escovedo at the beginning of Live From Stern Grove Festival, his terrific new album that captures a live show he played earlier this year at the legendary 75-year-old San Francisco cultural venue and institution.

Abdul, Osmond, Boyle, and More to Appear on DANCING WITH THE STARS This Week

"Episode 1504 & 1504A" - Monday night the competition heats up with world famous choreographer and recording artist Paula Abdul joining the judges in the ballroom as a special guest judge. For the first time in the show's history, the couples will perform new dance styles that their competitors have chosen for them, MONDAY, OCTOBER 15 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television network.

Pete Escovedo's LIVE FROM STERN GROVE FESTIVAL Released Today, 9/25

"What's up, San Francisco? Are you ready to have a good time?" asks timbales player and band leader Pete Escovedo at the beginning of Live From Stern Grove Festival, his terrific new album that captures a live show he played earlier this year at the legendary 75-year-old San Francisco cultural venue and institution. Escovedo and his band then swing into a breezy rendition of the Tito Puente classic "Picadillo Jam," and from that moment it's readily apparent the band can deliver on Escovedo's promise. Live From Stern Grove Festival is set for digital release today, September 25, 2012 on Concord Picante/Stiletto Flats Inc. (There will be a physical release in 2013.)

Shaken, Not Stirred! PINK MARTINI Comes to the McCallum Tonight, 9/8

The internationally acclaimed musical sensation PINK MARTINI will bring their unique and highly praised vocal stylings to The McCallum Theatre for a 'one night only' concert tonight, September 8 at 8:00 pm. Drawing inspiration from music from all over the world - crossing genres of classical, jazz and old-fashioned pop - Pink Martini's diverse repertoire is a blend influenced by Cole Porter and Duke Ellington, Tito Puente and Xavier Cugat, as well as Argentine tango, Brazilian samba, Italian folk, Asian and romantic Hollywood musicals of the 1940s and '50s.

A JEW GROWS IN BROOKLYN Goes on Hiatus, Now thru 10/11

A JEW GROWS IN BROOKLYN, Jake Ehrenreich's acclaimed comedy and musical memoir, now playing Off-Broadway at the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Theater (120 West 46th Street) will go on hiatus beginning tonight, August 16th. The show, directed by John Huberth, will resume performances on Thursday, October 11th. The show returned to New York on May 2 of this year, following a highly successful North American Tour and a book of the same name.

The latest edition of Conrad Herwig's Latin Side series finds him tackling the music of an artist with whom he has performed extensively: saxophonist Joe Henderson. This week's series of shows at the Blue Note marks the latest in the trombonist's string of Latin Side recordings and performances, including The Latin Side of Herbie Hancock (2010), The Latin Side of Wayne Shorter (2008), Sketches of Spain y Mas(2006), Another Kind of Blue (2004), and The Latin Side of John Coltrane (1998). Tuesday and Wednesday night feature special guest Ronnie Cuber (baritone sax) whereas Joe Lovano (tenor sax) will be with the band the rest of the week.
