Master Class with Playwright Tina Howe Highlights Southern Literary Festival at Lipscomb University in March

Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright Tina Howe (her Painting Churches was a 1984 finalist for the prize and Pride's Crossing was a Pulitzer finalist in 1997), and Mark Richard, the author of the best-selling House of Prayer No. 2, will be among the special guests at this year's Southern Literary Festival, held March 29-31 on the Lipscomb University campus in Nashville.

In the play, 90-year-old Mabel Tidings Bigelow-the first woman to swim the English Channel from England to Franc -insists on celebrating her daughter and granddaughter's annual visit with a croquet party. As the game unfolds, she relives vignettes from the last 80 years, interweaving past and present to reveal the precise moment of opportunity gained and love rejected, the moment that defined her life.

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company (Carl Forsman, Artistic Director/Damon Chua, Executive Director) will present John Cunningham, Kathleen Chalfant and Kate Turnbull in Tina Howe's Painting Churches, the 1983 Pulitzer Prize finalist. Keen Artistic Director Carl Forsman directs Performances began February 14, with Opening Night set for March 6. Check out performance highlights below!

Lynn Cohen and Jake Robards Set to Star in EAVESDROPPING ON DREAMS

Lynn Cohen and Jake Robards set to headline the cast of the world premiere of Rivka Beekerman-Greenberg's EAVESDROPPING ON DREAMS, presented Off-Broadway by Barefoot Theatre Company with previews beginning April 20 prior to an official press opening of Friday, April 27 at the Cherry Lane Studio Theatre (38 Commerce Street) in Manhattan. Ronald Cohen will direct.

Topher Grace & Olivia Thirlby to Lead LONELY, I'M NOT at Second Stage

TOPHER GRACE and OLIVIA THIRLBY will co-star in Second Stage Theatre's production of Paul Weitz's world premiere comedy, LONELY, I'M NOT, directed by Trip Cullman. Preview performances are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 10 at Second Stage's Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd street). The production will officially open on Monday, May 7. Painting Churches Performances Begin at Keen Company

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company (Carl Forsman, Artistic Director/Damon Chua, Executive Director) today announced that Kate Turnbull would join Kathleen Chalfant and Richard Easton for Tina Howe's Painting Churches, the 1983 Pulitzer Prize finalist. Keen Artistic Director Carl Forsman directs.

DCTC Announces Colorado New Play Summit Lineup

The Denver Center Theatre Company (DCTC) today announced of the lineup of playwrights and directors for its Seventh Annual Colorado New Play Summit. Over three days, February 10 -12, 2012 in downtown Denver, DCTC will present multiple showings of four play readings, a multimedia workshop and two fully-produced main stage plays, including new works by Pulitzer nominee Lisa Loomer, 2011 Obie winner Samuel D. Hunter, and direction by Broadway veterans Marcia Milgrom Dodge (Ragtime) and Sam Buntrock (Sunday in the Park with George).

Villanova's MUSEUM to Feature 41 Actors, Original Art

When Joanna Rotté decided to direct Tina Howe's Museum, her vision was clear: 'It's about the art.' In that spirit, Villanova has commissioned three local artists to design and create original artwork to be featured the production, on stage February 7 - 19, 2012.
