The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent work selected across the Feature Film, Short Film, Indie Series and New Frontier categories for the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.

Dive deep into the virtual world of social media with a mystery-thriller for the digital age, SEARCHING, debuting on Digital and redeemable via the Movies Anywhere App. on November 13, coming to Blu-ray and DVD November 27 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. A unique take on society's pervasive use of technology, SEARCHING is the feature film debut for writer-director Aneesh Chaganty, and writer-producer Sev Ohanian. Chaganty and Ohanian's script constructs a new form of cinema inspired by the connection between parent and child in the Internet age. Stopping at no lengths to find his missing daughter, a determined father, played by John Cho (Star Trek, Harold & Kumar), explores her social media accounts, emails, pictures, videos and more to aid in the police investigation. Cho is joined by an impressive cast including Emmy Award® winner Debra Messing (“Will & Grace”), Joseph Lee (“NCIS: Los Angeles”) and Michelle La in her feature film debut.

RZA and DJ Kid Koala to Perform at VIFF

As part of the Vancouver International Film Festival's VIFF Live! program, RZA, the award-winning musician, film director and leader of rap group Wu-Tang Clan, will live-score the Shaw Brothers' Kung Fu classic The 36th Chamber of Shaolin on October 9, 2018 at the Orpheum Theatre (601 Smithe Street). The film was a huge inspiration for the artist and his fellow Wu-Tang members, and prior to the show RZA will be at the Rio Theatre (1660 E. Broadway; 19+ only) to discuss his love of martial arts movies, as well as his creative process and experiences as a film director and composer. Tickets for these events, as well as Kid Koala Presents: Satellite - Turntable Orchestra–a part of VIFF's previously announced M/A/D stream–are also on sale. AMERICAN PSYCHO just announced that Tony Award-winner Alice Ripley(Next to Normal), Tony Award nominee Jennifer Damiano (Next to Normal) and Helene Yorke (Bullets over Broadway, 'Masters of Sex') will join previously announced Benjamin Walker (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) in the cast of the highly-anticipated musical. The producers of the new musical AMERICAN PSYCHO just announced the show will make its Broadway premiere this season with previews set to start Friday, February 19th, 2016and an official opening night on Monday, March 21st, 2016 at a Shubert Theatre to be announced. Rehearsals will begin on Monday, January 11th, 2016. The production will star BENJAMIN WALKER (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) as Patrick Bateman.
