Candlelight Dinner Playhouse is thrilled to produce Disney's Tarzan: The Stage Musical. Based on Disney's smash-hit, animated film, Tarzan swings into the Candlelight June 6 - August 25 marking its Northern Colorado stage debut.

The Western Connecticut State University Department of Theatre Arts returned last month from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) Region 1 competition in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, with a multitude of awards, continuing a trend of successful outcomes in the annual, regional competition.

Regional productions, touring shows, and more are all included in the awards, honoring productions which opened between October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018. Based on Joseph Moncure March's 1928 poem, the musical 'The Wild Party' will come to the stage at Western Connecticut State University for the first two weekends of November. Presented by the WCSU Department of Theatre Arts, the first round of performances will be at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9; at 2 and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10; and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11. The following weekend, performances will be at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16; at 2 and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17; and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18.

BDT Stage will be observing the 20 year anniversary of the savage murder of Matthew Shepard with a staged reading of THE LARAMIE PROJECT. With help from the immense talents of John Ashton, Sam Gregory, Wayne Kennedy, Michael J. Duran, Greg Moody, Chris Parente, Sue Leiser, Alicia King Meyers, Nick Sugar, Tim Howard, Eden Lane (and more TBA) local actors are using the platform they know best to acknowledge and encourage the work being done to eradicate hate.

The world famous Harlem Globetrotters today held their 12th annual player draft, selecting a wide array of talented prospects that includes three standout collegiate  players –including the son of  a Globetrotters legend—as well as a soccer player from Manchester United and the French national team, and the world's strongest man (literally).

The Colorado Theatre Guild's 13th Annual Henry Awards will take place Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Lone Tree Arts Center, located at 10075 Commons St. Lone Tree, CO 80124. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails and the awards ceremony will begin at 7 p.m., followed by a reception at the Lone Tree Arts Center. Tickets are $35 for CTG members, $40 non-members or $45 at the door. The Western Connecticut State University Department of Theatre Arts hosted the Region One Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) in late January for the third year in a row. The department once again came out strong by giving a public performance of the nominated fall theatre production, 'Evita,' in the MainStage Theatre of the Visual and Performing Arts Center.

Hot. Shredded. Cheese. You know what I'm talking about. That gooey kind that stretches from the plate to your mouth, and you just can't get enough. That's how BDT Stage's current '80s jukebox musical Rock of Ages feels.

Sherrie's just a small-town girl living in a lonely world. She took a late night bus to Los Angeles with visions of stardom in her eyes. Rock of Ages is a mix-tape compilation musical of some of the most memorable songs of the 1980s, including Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'," "We Built This City" by Starship, and Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is," set to a story about pursuing dreams. Rock of Ages plays BDT Stage September 1 - November 11, with discounted preview performances August 25 - 31, 2017.

Breckenridge Backstage Theatre is set to present The Producers at The Breckenridge Theater. Featuring music & lyrics by Mel Brooks, book by Mel Brooks & Thomas Meehan, music direction by Trent Hines, choreography by Jessica Hindsley and direction by Robert Michael Sanders, the production will run June 9th through August 6th.

This week, Western Connecticut State University will, for the second consecutive year, host the Region 1 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF). KCACTF is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from more than 600 colleges and universities nationwide that has 'served as a catalyst for improving the quality of college theater in the United States,' according to its website.

The 43rd Season of the BBT - a Season of Love and Passion - kicks off in November with a what has been called "the most charming musical ever written."

In the last twelve months, more than 300,000 people attended a live theatre production in or around Berkshire County. With 75 stage productions employing hundreds of professionals, making theatre is an important cog in the area's cultural economy. Danbury, Conn. - Western Connecticut State University's fall theatre arts production, "Parade," was nominated for 14 national awards and won five, including "Outstanding Production of a Musical," Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Musical," "Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Musical," "Best Director of a Musical" and "Outstanding Choreography" at the American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., earlier this month.
