York Little Theatre (YLT) will present Disney's Peter Pan Jr. May 1-13, 8-10 and 15-17. Based on the play by J.M. Barrie, the entire family will fall in love with Disney's adaptation of the beloved 1953 animated film. The musical features Disney favorite songs such as 'You Can Fly,' 'Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Me', 'Following the Leader ' and 'The Second Star to the Right.' A cast of almost 50 kids 17 and younger will be performing this creative show filled with pirates, fairies, mermaids and more including that villain everyone loves to hate, Captain Hook. The story opens at the Baghdad Zoo as a hungry tiger bites off the hand of an American Marine. The Marine shoots the tiger, freeing its spirit to wander the streets of Baghdad raging against God and trying to make sense of war and its effect on humanity. The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for George Bernard Shaw's Arms and the Man, joining celebrated director Jessica Stone, who recently made her Globe debut with Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Shaw's romantic comedy, which continues the Globe's 80th Anniversary festivities as part of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration, will run May 9 - June 14, 2015 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. The YALE INSTITUTE FOR MUSIC THEATRE (Mark Brokaw, Artistic Director) has selected two original book musicals to be developed in an intensive lab setting in New Haven, June 13-28: gilgamesh & the mosquito, music by Bob Kelly and book and lyrics by Sam Chanse; and Horizons, music by Ben Wexler and book and lyrics by Mark Sonnenblick. The Institute culminates with open rehearsal readings of each project, presented as a part of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, on June 26 and 27.
