Burning Coal Theatre Presents World Premiere of JUDE THE OBSCURE, 4/12-5/5

Burning Coal Theatre Company will close its 15th season with the world premiere of Jude the Obscure, Parts 1 & 2 by Ian Finley, with music and lyrics by Thomas Hardy, Bruce Benedict, Jerome Davis and Jonathan Fitts. The production will run April 12 - May 5, 2012 at the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm (April 12 - 14, 19 - 21, 26 - 28 and May 3 - 5, 2012), Saturdays at 2 pm (April 21, 28 and May 5, 2012) and Sundays at 2 pm (April 15, 22, 29, 2012). Sunday, April 15 (Part 1) and Sunday, April 22nd (Part 2) at 2 pm are our 'Pay What You Can' days. Those performances will also be Audio Described. Tickets are $20 or $15 for students, seniors and active military. All tickets are $10 on Thursday evenings. For reservations and information, please call 919-834-4001 or visit www.burningcoal.org.

There's so much already going on this season in Triangle theater! I'm so thrilled by what I've seen so far, and I cannot wait to dive into so many more amazing productions. I can't tell you exactly what to see, but I'll let you know what I am definitely going to be seeing this year.

Burning Coal today announced that Rosemarie Morgan, current President of the Thomas Hardy Society and Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, will speak on "The Critical Response to the Publication of Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy" on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 6 pm at the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh. Tickets are $5 at the door or free for anyone holding a ticket to any performance of Jude the Obscure, Parts 1 & 2. Theater for the New City will present Toby Armour's 155 First Avenue (The Epic Adventures of the Theater for the New Synzgy), directed by George Ferencz, May 3 to 20. Shows are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 3:00 PM. Tickets are $10 general admission. The box office is (212) 254-1109 and you can buy tickets at www.theaterforthenewcity.net. The theater is located at 155 First Avenue, at the corner of East Tenth Street.

Burning Coal Theatre Company, a small professional theatre in Raleigh, North Carolina has announced its 2011-2012 main stage season. It will begin with the riveting music and dance filled Enron by Lucy Prebble, Sept. 8-25, 2011; followed by Shakespeare's Henry V (on Trapeze), Dec. 1-18, 2011; then Man of La Mancha by Darion, Leigh and Wasserman, Feb. 2-19, 2012; and wrapping up with Jude the Obscure, Pts. 1 & 2, a new musical by Ian Finley, Jerome Davis and Bruce Benedict, in repertory, April 12-May 5, 2012.
