UNCANNY VALLEY to Make New York Premiere at 59E59 Theaters this Fall

59E59 Theaters welcomes Contemporary American Theater Festival with the New York premiere of UNCANNY VALLEY, written Thomas Gibbons and directed by Tom Dugdale. UNCANNY VALLEY begins performances on Thursday, October 2 for a limited engagement through Sunday, October 26. Press opening is Wednesday, October 8 at 7:15 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:15 PM; Friday at 8:15 PM; Saturday at 2:15 PM & 8:15 PM; and Sunday at 3:15 PM & 7:15 PM. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Tickets are $35 ($24.50 for 59E59 Members). CATF Finishes Successful Season with Plans to Transfer UNCANNY VALLEY to New York

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University (CATF) completed its 24th season on August 3. However, the Theater Festival is not quite done for the year. CATF has been invited to transfer its world premiere production of Uncanny Valley by Thomas Gibbons to New York City's Off-Broadway venue 59E59 Theaters

Capital Stage Company Announces 10th Season: MOVING BETWEEN WORLDS

CATF Welcomes Bruce Duncan and Bina48 for Lecture on Artificial Intelligence Today

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University's Humanities series will host speaker Bruce Duncan and artificial intelligence unit Bina48 for a lecture on Bina and the Evolution of Artificial Intelligence. The lecture will be held today, July 26 at 4:30 p.m. in Reynolds Hall (109 North King St.), and is free and open to the public. The program is supported by a grant from the West Virginia Humanities Council. The CATF world premiere play, Uncanny Valley by Thomas Gibbons, part of the 2014 season which runs through August 3, was inspired by an article in National Geographic on Bina48.

Contemporary American Theater Festival Announces 24th Season Humanities Events, 7/11-8/3

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University has announced its 2014 Humanities events. The events, produced in tandem with CATF's July 11-August 3 repertory season, will feature playwrights Christina Anderson, Charles Fuller (winner of the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for Drama), Thomas Gibbons, Bruce Graham, and Chisa Hutchinson; CATF will also host guest speakers Miranda Petersen (Protect Our Defenders Foundation), Bruce Duncan and the Bina48 Artificial Intelligence unit (Terasem Movement Foundation), Theresa M. Davis (University of Virginia), Dr. Julia Sandy-Bailey (Shepherd University), and David Leong (Theatre VCU).

Preview Performances Begin Tonight at Contemporary American Theater Festival, Now Through 7/10

Expanded this year! CATF's Pay-What-You-Can Preview series allows you to experience the 2014 repertory of plays before they open at whatever price you care to pay. While the playwrights, directors, and designers are still working and changing the plays (you might even still see them in the theater!), the performances are fully produced with all sets, lights, video, sound, and costumes. The Contemporary American Theater Festival Begins July 6

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University (CATF) begins preview performances on Sunday, July 6th. All five plays that make up the 2014 repertory will receive at least two preview performances before the Festival officially opens on Friday, July 11th.

American Blues Theater Hosts Benefit Performance of Multi-Award Winning GROUNDED, 6/21

Producing Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside and American Blues Theater, Chicago's second oldest Equity ensemble, are proud to announce the Saturday, June 21 performance of Grounded, by George Brant and directed by Lisa Portes, at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. is a benefit performance for Children of War Foundation. Proceeds from the performance will go directly to surgery and medical treatment for Shah Bibi Tarakhail, an Afghan Child Affected by War. The running time is approximately 80 minutes.
