Dallas Opera Presents CARMEN Live, 10/25

The Dallas Opera, in partnership with Klyde Warren Park and with support from The Dallas Arts District, is delighted to announce our first-ever artistic collaboration: a live simulcast of one of the most popular operas in the repertoire, Georges Bizet's 1875 masterpiece,CARMEN, starring the gorgeous and gifted French mezzo-soprano Clementine Margaine in her American debut!

From the author of Pride and Prejudice comes this heartwarming, humorous tale of two sisters struggling to move past a family disaster. Sensible, reserved Elinor and passionate, impulsive Marianne find the road to true love beset with dashing suitors and well-meaning relatives, devoted friends and devious rivals, and scandalous secrets and unexpected twists in a period-perfect adaptation that captures all of the deliciousness, flirtation and folly of Jane Austen's well-loved novel.

THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK Opens at Milwaukee Rep Today, 10/26

Anne Frank's remarkable diary has become an essential tool for understanding one of the darkest periods of our history - and one of the most beautiful, haunting stories in our shared experience. The play is dramatized from the book by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. Making her Rep directorial debut, KJ Sanchez will direct the play. The cast features Associate Artists Jonathan Gillard Daly, Laura Gordon, Lee E. Ernst, James Pickering and Deborah Staples and guest actors J. Alexander Coe, Kelley Faulkner, Larry Neumann, Jr., and rising Chicago actress Lauren Hirte in the title role. Rep Artistic Intern Ensemble Members Jonathan Altman, Emily Berman, Jess Prichard and J.R. Yancher are also in this production. The Diary of Anne Frank runs in The Rep's Quadracci Powerhouse from October 23 - December 2 and opens Today, October 26.

Syracuse Stage welcomes Julian Rad's adaptation of the novel as their 40th season opener. Rad's MOBY DICK opened off-off Broadway in 2003 and was nominated for Drama Desk Awards. This play with songs was heralded for its bare set and authentic sea chanteys.

This will be the first time Verdi's "Fallen Woman" has appeared on the Winspear stage.

New York City Opera Features LA TRAVIATA, PRIMA DONNA, et al. in 2011-12 Season

New York City Opera General Manager and Artistic Director George Steel announced today that the company will make New York City its stage for the 2011/12 season. With an imaginative and accessible season that encompasses productions ranging from the Baroque to Classical to Romantic and Contemporary, City Opera will create a living presence in neighborhoods across New York, including Brooklyn, the Upper West Side,Harlem and Central Park. The company will present a season of classics, undiscovered and new works that explore a repertory ranging nearly 300 years.

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park Presents THE HISTORY OF INVULNERABILITY, Opens 4/8

The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park will continue its Shelterhouse Theatre season with the world premiere of THE HISTORY OF INVULNERABILITY by David Bar Katz. This remarkable new play about fantasy and reality in the 20th century began previews in The Playhouse's Thompson Shelterhouse Theatre April 3 and continues through May 2. Opening night is set for April 8.
