Photo Flash: First Look at Broken Nose Theatre's PLAINCLOTHES

Broken Nose Theatre is pleased to launch its seventh season with the world premiere dark comedy PLAINCLOTHES, written by company member Spenser Davis* and co-directed by Kanome Jones and Davis. Developed with much of the team behind BNT's runaway 2017 hit At The Table, PLAINCLOTHES will play November 9 - December 15, 2018 at its resident home, The Den Theatre (2A), 1331 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood.

LA Opera's HANSEL AND GRETEL Features 39 Members Of LA Children's Chorus

Some 39 members of Los Angeles Children's Chorus (LACC), one of the world's leading children's choirs, are featured in LA Opera's production of Humperdinck's enchanting Hansel and Gretel conducted by James Conlon and starring mezzo-soprano Susan Graham (The Witch), mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke (Hansel) and soprano Liv Redpath (Gretel). The production runs for six performances from November 17 to December 15, 2018, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. LACC's new Artistic Director, Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, prepared the young choristers for their roles as the gingerbread children, noted for the purity of their sound and intricate four-part harmony. A perennial favorite, Hansel and Gretel, based on the beloved Brothers Grimm tale and sung in English, features a magical score and plot and is considered to be the composer's best-known work. 

La MaMa's Annual Puppet Festival Returns to New York

LA MAMA announces its Puppet Festival, (November 1 - 25, 2018), featuring the New York and World premiere of works by artists from around the world including Germany, Brazil, Australia, Japan, Colombia, China, Belgium, and the USA taking place at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre and The Downstairs (66 E. 4 St.), in the East Village throughout the month of November.

BWW Previews: SOMETHING ROTTEN at Wermland Opera

The musical 'Something Rotten' will have it's European opening night the 8th of November at Wermland Opera in Karlstad, Sweden. The brother Bottom are struggling play writers in hard competition with William Shakespeare. They are told that the future is in plays with music and dance by a local oracle. So they decide to write the first musical ever. It is a funny show and they promise tap dancing!

Nobel Prize-Winner Luigi Pirandello's NAKED Begins At The Unicorn Theatre, Today

Written by Nobel Prize Award-winner Luigi Pirandello, in a new version by Nicholas Wright, Naked begins performances Today, September 27 at 7pm at The Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge, MA. Opening night is set for Saturday, September 29 at 7pm. Directed by Eric Hill (BTG: At Home at the Zoo, The Homecoming, Poe), the production features: David Adkins (Homeland BTG: The Petrified Forest, At Home at the Zoo) as Alfredo Cantavalle; Haley Aguero (BTG: Tarzan, The Music Man) as Emma; James Barry (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson BTG: The Caretaker, The Who's Tommy) as Franco Laspiga; Jeffrey Doornbos (A Thousand Miles Behind) as Consul Grotti; Tara Franklin (Sleep No More BTG: At Home at the Zoo, The Homecoming) as Ersilia Drei; Barbara Sims (A Streetcar Named Desire BTG: Benefactors) as Signora Onoria; and Obie and Drama Desk Award-winner, Rocco Sisto (The King and I BTG: The Homecoming) as Ludovico Nota. Austin Film Festival Announces Full 25th Anniversary Film and Conference Schedule

Austin Film Festival & Writers Conference (AFF), the premier film festival recognizing the writers' contributions to film, television, and new media, announced today the full schedule of films and panels for the 25th Anniversary festival, this October 25-November 1. BWW Previews: SÅ SOM I HIMMELEN (AS IF IN HEAVEN) at Oscars

Tonight I saw a preview on Sa som i himmelen (As if in heaven). For over 10 years, Theatre manager, Vicky von der Lancken has had a dream to transfer director Kay Pollak's amazing film 'As if in heaven' to the stage as a musical. Now it's only a few days left before it's opening night September 13th. Kay has done the musical version together with his wife Carin. Fredrik Kempe has written all music to it in addition to Gabriella's song (Stefan Nilsson and Py Backman) the lead song from the film which Helen Sjoholm made great success with. Director for the musical is Markus Virta.

PICASSO'S WOMEN Transfers to London

Following a critically acclaimed, sell out run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the reimaged production of Picasso's Women transfers to London this Autumn. Continuing the site specific theme, the play is set in a contemporary art space, Gallery Different in London, from Tuesday 25 - Saturday 29 September at 19:30 (Duration 1h 30m).
