The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is pleased to announce the 2013-2014 Pittsburgh International Children's Theater Family Series. Now in its 44th season, the Family Series will present award-winning, professional theater companies featuring live performances for young audiences ages 3 and up. The New York Musical Theatre Festival and Retrop Productions will present JULIAN PO, a new musical with book and lyrics by Andrew Barrett and music by Ira Antelis, from July 8 to 14, 2013. JULIAN PO, which mixes comedy and drama, opens in New York after a critically-acclaimed, sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it was nominated for "Best Book of a Musical." JULIAN PO, based on the book La mort de monsieur Golouja by Branimir Š?epanovi? and the screenplay "Julian Po" by Alan Wade, features elements of pop, rock, country, bluegrass and gospel. JULIAN PO is an official selection of The New York Musical Theatre Festival's "2013 Next Link Project." The show is directed by Kirsten Sanderson with music direction by Mark Hartman.
Speaking on tonight's Tonys red carpet, composing team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul revealed that they are writing an original musical to be directed by Michael Greif, as well as crafting a new stage musical for Disney. The duo is nominated tonight for Best Score for A Christmas Story - The Musical, which they say has hopes of returning to Broadway -- or at least New York -- every year for the holiday season.

Tony and Obie Award winning performer Priscilla Lopez will perform at the company's 20th Anniversary celebration tonight, June 6th. Lopez, who originated the role of 'Diana' in A Chorus Line, performed a one-woman show entitled Class Mothers '68 by Eric H. TheatreWorks Kids registration is now open for the summer production of YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN, led by veteran instructor Amy Emke for children ages 7 to 14. The TWKids program focuses on the craft of acting, along with lessons throughout the process of mounting a production, vocal skills and basic choreography. This program inspires creativity, confidence and a sense of community through the exploration and practice of theatre skills. The TW Kids after-school and summer programs have helped bring the joy of theatre to many children and given each and every one of them a chance to learn and grow.
