TAMAR OF THE RIVER Begins Tonight Off-Broadway

Jeremy Greenbaum (The Fantasticks) and Aaron Komo complete the cast of Prospect Theater Company's upcoming world premiere production of TAMAR OF THE RIVER, a new music theater work with music and book by Marisa Michelson, book and lyrics by Joshua H. Cohen and direction by Daniel Goldstein (Godspell). Previously announced cast members include Margo Seibert (set to make her Broadway debut as 'Adrian' in ROCKY on Broadway in Spring 2014) as Tamar, with Ako (Throne of Blood), Erik Lochtefeld (February House), Mike Longo (Hair) and Vince B. Vincent (Geography of Loss), and Jen Anaya, Adam Bashian, Margot Bassett, Troy Burton, Tamrin Goldberg and Mary Kate Morrissey.

Megan Hilty Kicks Off Bay Area Cabaret's 10th Season Tonight

Bay Area Cabaret, devoted to presenting audiences with top performers who expand the definition of cabaret, enters its 10th season this fall with a gala series at the Fairmont San Francisco's historic Venetian Room. To celebrate this significant milestone, Bay Area Cabaret presents a star-studded lineup of performers making their Bay Area Cabaret debuts, as well as the return of a few favorites from the past decade. Opening the seas tonight, September 21, 2013 with a bang is Broadway's Megan Hilty, known to millions as the powerhouse 'Bombshell' on NBC's television program Smash. The season continues October 20, 2013 with Tony nominee Norm Lewis (The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess) and November 10, 2013 with 'America's romantic piano sensation,' multi-platinum selling recording artist Jim Brickman, joined by special guest Broadway heartthrob David Burnham.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre kicks off its 46th season this September with Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play. The hilarious Broadway blockbuster from three-time Obie Award-winner Christopher Durang begins previews in the Roda Theatre tonight, September 20, opens September 25, and runs through October 20. Aurora Theatre Company to Present A BRIGHT NEW BOISE, 11/8-12/8

Aurora Theatre Company continues its 22nd season with the Bay Area Premiere of Samuel D. Hunter's edgy and earnest A BRIGHT NEW BOISE. Aurora Artistic Director Tom Ross helms this comedy about faith, family, forgiveness, and second chances, featuring Robert Parsons, Patrick Russell, Gwen Loeb, Megan Trout, and Daniel Petzold. Son of Semele Ensemble to Present Jason Grote's CIVILIZATION, Begin. 10/11

Award-winning theatre company, Son of Semele Ensemble (SOSE), will present the West Coast premiere of Civilization (all you can eat), by playwright Jason Grote. Directed by SOSE ensemble member Don Boughton and choreographed by Ken Roht, Civilization opens October 11th at the Son of Semele Theater.

Pittsburgh International Children's Theater to Present PETER PAN, 10/20-27

Pittsburgh International Children's Theater, a division of The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, presents Theatreworks USA in the Pittsburgh premiere of Peter Pan October 20-27, 2013 at six performance locations throughout the area. Performance locations include: City: Byham Theater, October 20 at 2:00 p.m.; East: Penn Hills High School, October 23 at 7:00 p.m.; North: Marshall Middle School, October 24 at 5:30 & 7:30 p.m.; West: Hopewell High School, October 25 at 7:00 p.m.; South: Mt. BWW Reviews: Theatreworks' SEVEN GUITARS Stutters, Yet Sings

Theatreworks is presenting Seven Guitars in conjunction with next month's Death of a Salesman as part of a miniseries entitled 'America's Backyards.' Both productions are set in 1948 outside ordinary homes and revolve around ordinary lives. The synchronicity invites further comparisons between August Wilson's portrait of black blues musicians and Arthur Miller's masterwork. Both plays share a theme of hope against desperate odds, of reaching for the better life that The American Dream claims everyone is entitled to. Both plays feature a man who pursues that dream in defiance of everything against him, and both end in tragedy.

Marin Theatre Company to Present Lauren Gunderson's I AND YOU, 10/10-11/3

Marin Theatre Company continues its 2013-14 Season with the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere of I and You by San Francisco-based playwright Lauren Gunderson. Running for a limited time from October 10 to November 3, this highly anticipated new play written by a "rising national talent" (Creative Loafing) will be directed by Sarah Rasmussen, the resident director for Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Black Swan Lab, and feature local actor Jessica Lynn Carroll and New York actor Devion McArthur. Opening night is Tuesday, October 15. Based in Mill Valley, MTC is a 47-year old professional nonprofit theater that is a destination for exhilarating performances, inspired new American plays and powerful theatrical experiences.

Bill Grundfest to Host TheatreWorks' ANYTHING GOES Gala, 11/2

TheatreWorks, the nationally-acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley, presents a night full of magical fun with its 11th annual Anything Goes -taking place for the first time this year at the luxurious Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club. For this unique fundraiser, guests are invited to visit TheatreWorks' massive costume shop in the weeks prior to the event, where they are able to choose their party attire from the hundreds of costumes used in TheatreWorks' past productions. In previous years, guests have been attired as everything from go-go dancers to the Pope, Cinderella's prince to Samurai warriors, and from Sweeney Todd to Lady Bracknell. This year's festivities will be conducted by the Master of Ceremonies, Golden Globe Award-winner and three-time Emmy-nominee Bill Grundfest. Attendees will enjoy a cocktail hour, followed by a sumptuous dinner, dessert dash, and live auction, then will dance the night away against the sweeping views of the Palo Alto Hills. Anything Goes takes place one night only, November 2, 2013, at Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club, 3000 Alexis Dr, Palo Alto. Alison Fraser and Mitchell Jarvis to Lead GETTIN' THE BAND BACK TOGETHER at George Street Playhouse, 9/24-10/27

9 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick will be rockin' every night beginning September 24 with music and laughter. George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint have announced casting for the opening production for the venerable theatre's fortieth season. Gettin' The Band Back Together (formerly titled Garage Band) is a rockin' valentine to the Garden State, and will be directed by Tony Award-winner John Rando - who also helmed The Toxic Avenger in New Brunswick (and New York) a few seasons back. Gettin' The Band Back Together will rock the house beginning Tuesday, September 24 and continue through Sunday, October 27. Opening night is set for Friday, October 4. Gettin' The Band Back Together is performed by special arrangement with Davenport Theatrical Enterprises, Inc. and Roy Putrino.
