Opera Columbus today announced the lineup for its 2014-15 season, premiering the first season in Opera Columbus history to present all locally produced productions. Opera Columbus opens the season with a never-been-done-before collaboration with BalletMet and the Columbus Symphony and Chorus to present the world premiere of Twisted, an all-original work written and directed by Crystal Manich, featuring dancers, singers, and musicians from all three organizations on stage together for the first time.
Performance Space 122 (PS122) announces RAMP, a new residency program designed to support early career artists. The residencies, to be held at The Chain Theatre (21-28 45th Rd.) in Long Island City, provide New York City-based artists with the resources to create ambitious new work. In addition to rehearsal space, RAMP will offer technical assistance, commissioning fees and marketing support. The intention of RAMP is to begin an ongoing relationship with a select group of artists, which may lead to large-scale presentations. The inaugural year of RAMP artists are the choreographic duo of Molly Lieber and Eleanor Smith, musician Eliot Krimsky and his progressive-indie band Glass Ghost, and theater artist Kaneza Schaal.

CSO Music Director Jean-Marie Zeitouni will conduct the CSO's first performances in the Southern Theatre for the 2013-14 season, opening with the Suites & Songs program featuring guest mezzo-soprano Abigail Fischer and works from Respigh, Ravel, and Peter Liberson. Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin composition pays graceful homage to Francois Couperin and the other composers of eighteenth-century France. The CSO will also perform two additional movements from the original piano suite orchestrated by Jean-Marie. Ottorino Respighi's sparkling suite Trittico Botticelliano portrays the delightful paintings of Italian master Sandro Botticelli. Audiences will also enjoy Peter Lieberson's gorgeous musical love letters derived from the sonnets of Nobel prize-winning Chilean poet Pablo Neruda in Neruda Songs, featuring Kim Harrison Hopcraft as narrator.

Bangarra Dance Theatre will return to Victoria this month and to Hobart in September, with a breathtaking performance tour of Kinship, by award-winning choreographer Stephen Page. During the tour, Bangarra will host a series of workshops to inspire and engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, particularly young people, in Victoria and Hobart.

Conducted by CSO Associate Conductor Peter Stafford Wilson, the Columbus All City Orchestra will present a free, public concert on Wednesday, May 22, at the Southern Theatre at 7:30pm. Now in its sixth year, the orchestra's 50 members are selected from musicians in grades 9-12 attending Columbus City Schools. The program is tuition free for students and is funded by The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation, The Paul Duke Foundation, and The Morris and Emma Woodhull Fund of The Columbus Foundation.
Opera Columbus concludes their 2012-13 season with the presentation of The New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players (NYGASP) in HMS Pinafore. Ride a wave of music and laughter as romantic sailors, sisters, cousins, and aunts sing and dance their way across the deck of the fanciful British naval vessel with the improbable name. The very proper Captain Corcoran and ridiculously pompous Sir Joseph Porter preside, the villainous Dick Deadeye speaks the ugly truth, and Little Buttercup reveals the outrageous mistake that allows true love to overcome the problems of class distinction.
