Second Thought Theatre to Present COCK, 1/29-2/22

Following a critically acclaimed reading at 2013's Pride Performing Arts Festival, Second Thought Theatre Associate Artist Alex Organ will direct the first play in STT's 10th anniversary season, Cock, by Mike Bartlett. Cock, a wildly comic exploration of identity and sexuality, will begin with previews on January 29 and will run through February 22 at Bryant Hall on the Kalita Humphreys Campus. Tickets to Cock are on sale now.

YALE REPERTORY THEATRE presents THE FAIRYTALE LIVES OF RUSSIAN GIRLS by Meg Miroshnik, directed by Rachel Chavkin, January 31-February 22 at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street). Sunday, December 15th, at 7:00 p.m. A night that Doug Quattrock will remember for the rest of his career. This night marks his 500th performance in Theatre Three's production of A Christmas Carol. This represents ten years of work, spread out over twenty-five years. It is hours upon hours of rehearsals, long days with double (and, at one time, even triple) performances. It is the lifting of Tiny's of varying shapes, sizes, and, most importantly weights (and don't underestimate the power of the center of gravity).

Second Thought Theatre to Host Free Public Reading of BOOTH, 12/9

Second Thought Theatre Co-Artistic Director Steven Walters announced today the first public reading of BOOTH, the brand new play by Walters with story and research assistance from Erik Archilla about the man behind one of the most tragic assassinations in American history. The reading will take place on Monday, December 9 at 7:30pm in Bryant Hall on the Kalita Humphreys Campus. Immediately following the reading, KERA's Jerome Weeks will lead a conversation with Walters, Archilla and members of the cast and audience about the play.

We are in the final rehearsals for THEATRE THREE's thirtieth production of A Christmas Carol. The production opens this Saturday, November 16, at 8 p.m. It is the first of the forty-nine performances that will play on THEATRE THREE's Mainstage.

The 24th Annual LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards, celebrating theatrical excellence and achievement during the 2013 season, were presented on Sunday, November 3 at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse Thirty-five awards were bestowed upon 13 different Southern California theatre companies. Leading the pack with 12 was Center Theatre Group (seven for The Nether at the Kirk Douglas Theatre; three for Joe Turner's Come and Gone at the Mark Taper Forum; one for The Scottsboro Boys at the Ahmanson Theatre; and one for The Royale at the Kirk Douglas Theatre). CTG was followed by 3-D Theatricals with five awards (four for Parade and one for Shrek the Musical). The Chance Theater and La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts took home three awards each (including Best Season for La Mirada); Circle X Theatre Company, the Fountain Theatre, and the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble tied with two each.
