Royal Stratford East's EQUUS Opens Today

English Touring Theatre and Theatre Royal Stratford East today announce the full cast for Ned Bennett's bold new production of Peter Shaffer's critically-acclaimed classic, psychological thriller Equus. Bennett directs Robert Finch (Frank Strang/Horse), Keith Gilmore (Harry Dalton/Nurse/Horse), Ethan Kai (Alan Strang), Syreeta Kumar (Dora Strang/Horse), Norah Lopez Holden (Jill Mason/Horse), Ruth Lass (Hester Salomon/Horse), Ira Mandela Siobhan (Young Horseman/Nugget) and Zubin Varla (Martin Dysart) completes the cast. The production opens at Theatre Royal Stratford East on 21 February, with previews from 15 February and runs until 23 March prior to embarking on a UK tour to Cambridge Arts Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath, Bristol Old Vic, The Lowry, Northern Stage and Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.

Jordan Li-Smith Presents 'Songs I Wish I Had Written (And Other Guilty Pleasures)' at Bishopsgate Institute

Join award winning musical director and writer Jordan Li-Smith and a slew of special guests for an intimate evening of musical theatre and songs from the Great American Songbook. This concert will feature Myra the Steinway as part of the new Myra Jazz Trio. Expect to hear the classics, contemporary numbers with a jazzy twist and perhaps a preview of Jordan's newest songs.

The launch of Progressive Theater is made possible through the support of South Orange/Maplewood Coalition on Race & Maplewood Township bringing you THE BUBBLY BLACK GIRL SHEDS HER CHAMELEON SKIN in lieu of Black History Month, February 16th & 17th. Progressive Theater aims to tell culturally enriched stories that empower people of color, and captivate all audiences with the focus being on the change we want to see in the theater community.

Ovalhouse Presents Its Second #Connect: Women In Theatre

Tara Arts and Polka Theatre have today announced that their co-production of Three Sat Under The Banyan Tree is set to head on a UK tour from 20th January - 2nd March 2019. The production originally played at The Polka Theatre in September 2018.

BWW Interview: Movement Director Shelley Maxwell Talks EQUUS

Shelley Maxwell doesn't stop. Born in Jamaica, trained in Cuba, practised in New York, and based in London, she has turned heads as a choreographer and performer, in contemporary dance and musical theatre. Now, Shelley has taken on Equus with English Touring Theatre and Theatre Royal Stratford East as its Movement Director. I talked to her about the brilliance of Equus, what a movement director does, and what's good in London.

Shakespeare's Globe Announces Full Casting For Summer 2019 Tour

Brendan O'Hea returns to direct Globe on Tour, where a company of eight actors will once again offer audiences around the world a trio of plays which this year explore the themes of refuge and displacement. Continuing last summer's experiment, which revived the Shakespearean tradition of allowing audiences to vote for the play they'd like to see, this year's audiences will cast their votes for The Comedy of Errors, Twelfth Night or Pericles, all stories of lost families, new homes, and what it means to belong. The tour will return to the Globe stage for Refugee Week (17 - 23 June) as part of a wider programme of events in which refugee artists, performers and audiences will all share their stories.
