Vital Theatre Company has announced that its long-running production of Pinkalicious, The Musical will play its final performance at the Culture Project (formerly Bleecker St Theatre) on Sunday, November 11th at noon. The production will continue performances at the new Hamilton Stage for the Performing Arts in Rahway, New Jersey on November 17th at 1 pm and November 18th at 11 am, then will appear on tour in South Orange, NJ; Easton, PA; Lakewood, NJ; Red Bank, NJ; Sandusky, OH; and New Albany, OH before it will return to its new home at the Riverside Theatre in February of 2013.
Off-Broadway's 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche wants all of the lady sisters of the country to come together and celebrate the right to have their voices heard! The play's Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein are asking women to "Quiche the Vote" by taking a photo of herself (not her ballot) after she votes, and uploading it to Instagram with the hash tag #5quiches and #QuicheTheVote. PigPen Theatre Co.'s Off-Broadway play with music The Old Man and the Old Moon, hailed as "the best kept secret around that's not going to last for much longer" by The Huffington Post, has announced today that it will extend for the holiday season to January 6, 2013 at The Gym at Judson (243 Thompson Street, NYC). Hosted by The King of Boylesque Tigger! and The Great Deceiver Albert Cadabra, Burlesque-A-Pades will play the SoHo Playhouse every Friday at 10pm beginning 10/12.
The Off-Broadway comedy 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche is celebrating National Coming Out Day by encouraging closeted LGBT community-members to come out by baking their own "Coming Out Quiche" - a special recipe featuring favorite fall flavors - as a symbol of his/her pride and sending it to loved ones. There is no nicer way to say, "I'm gay!"
In 2006 (I think... my mind is a little fuzzy), I had the privilege to be part of the original cast of "Don't Quit Your Night Job"-- an all Broadway Improv show. The show was created by Sarah Saltzberg, Steve Rosen, and David Rossmer. (PS - go see Steve and David in "The Other Josh Cohen" which starts previews Wed at the SoHo playhouse) all of them comedic gold. Now... it may seem like I'm milking my friends here, but I wouldn't post it if it wasn't true! Anyhow, I always had a fantasy of writing a sketch for the show involving David Hyde Pierce and Brian d'Arcy James. Why? Let me finish...
