There is big news for Big Cherry! BroadwayWorld has just learned that Steppenwolf's production of The Minutes by Tracy Letts, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, will return to Broadway opening exactly one year after its original opening date of Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Cort Theatre (138 W 48th Street). The Minutes was a limited engagement and was originally scheduled to close Sunday, July 26.

Philip J. Smith, Chairman and Co-CEO of The Shubert Organization, has announced his retirement, effective June 30th, 2020. The Shubert Organization owns and operates 17 Broadway theatres and six Off-Broadway venues. Mr. Smith will also resign his duties as Chairman of The Shubert Foundation.

Florida Studio Theatre has announced that it has received a $60,000 grant from The Shubert Foundation. The grant will be used for general operating support for Sarasota's Contemporary Theatre through the end of May 2021. Due to COVID-19, FST had to cancel the remainder of its Winter Season, its 2020 Summer Season, and postpone its annual Sarasota Improv Festival until 2021. These cancellations are projected to cost the theatre over $1.5 million in lost revenue. The Shubert Foundation's financial support will help the nonprofit theatre offset these sizeable financial losses.
