As the world commemorates William Shakespeare's 459th birthday this April, Chicago Shakespeare Theater will celebrate the Bard with multiple events throughout the month. The Theater will honor the legacy of Founding Artistic Director Barbara Gaines with the Spirit of Shakespeare Award, which will be presented at a fundraising event at the Theater's home on Navy Pier on Monday, April 24, 2023.

Zilker Theatre Productions has announced the cast for Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical for the 64th year of its free, outdoor, summer musical production in partnership with the City of Austin.

As celebrations continue for the 400th Anniversary of the First Folio across 2023, Shakespeare’s Globe will return to Westminster Abbey for the hugely popular Shakespeare in the Abbey for six special performances beginning this evening and running until Friday 31 March.

Shakespeare's Globe has announced the cast of A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Elle While (The Merry Wives of Windsor, 2019; As You Like It, Hamlet, 2018).

The stage production of Hamnet will transfer direct to London's Garrick Theatre this autumn after selling out ahead of its world premiere at the newly restored Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon this April.

For the second year running, Big Night Of Musicals will be back on BBC One. Staged last month by The National Lottery at the AO Arena Manchester, the special night brings together the biggest shows from the world of theatre for a spectacular celebration. Check out details on when it will air!

The season will comprise of two world premieres Frank and Percy by Ben Weatherill starring Ian McKellen and Roger Allam (Theatre Royal Windsor Friday 9 June – Saturday 22 July 2023 and Theatre Royal Bath Tuesday 25 July – Saturday 5 August 2023) and Alone Together by Simon Williams, with casting to be announced, (Friday 4 August 2023 – Saturday 19 August 2023).

The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) has announced full casting for the upcoming production of Cymbeline, directed by RSC Artistic Director Emeritus Gregory Doran, which will run in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre from Saturday 22 April to Saturday 27 May 2023.
