Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), continues its 17th season with Eric Overmyer's 'On the Verge or The Geography of Yearning.' Mel Gussow, in his New York Times review of 'On the Verge...' wrote, 'Blending Tom Stoppard's limber linguistics with the historic overview of a Thornton Wilder, Mr. Overmyer takes his audience on a mirthful safari that leads from darkest Africa to Terra Incognita, spinning into time travel.'

If you've never read Fyodor Dostoyevsky's mammoth classic CRIME AND PUNISHMENT, you're probably still familiar with certain themes and characters that populate this piece of Russian literature. The particularly misguided concept of there being extraordinary humans amongst us that feel they have the right to govern and commit acts of murder because they are 'above the law', and because it is for the good of all mankind, is certainly nothing new to anyone who follows politics, or knows their history. It's at the heart of Dostoyevsky's work, and in Marilyn Campbell and Curt Columbus's smartly compressed adaptation that point is clearly communicated.

Veteran actress Kathleen Turner will return to the stage in the role of a recovering alcoholic nun in Matthew Lombardo's world premiere 'High' to be presented by Hartford's TheaterWorks. Kevin Kline Award winner Ben Nordstrom and St. Louis veteran actor Steve Isom star in the St. Louis premiere of GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL!, the Off-Broadway hit that the New York Times called 'A Smashing Success!' The Temporary Theatre (The Temp), a new company headed by Isom, has chosen as its inaugural offering the exclamation point-littered two-man musical spoof by Scott Brown and Anthony King.

Shakespeare Festival St. Louis announced the full cast of this season's production of HAMLET, running May 26-June 20, 2010. As previously announced, St. Louisan and Kevin Kline Award winner Jim Butz plays the title role. Joining Butz will be Justin Blanchard as Laertes, John Rensenhouse as Claudius, Anderson Matthews as Polonius, Deanne Lorette as Gertrude, Rob Krakovski as Ghost/Player King, and Kimiye Corwin as Ophelia.
