Cory Stearns Promoted to Principal Dancer with ABT

Cory Stearns has been promoted to the rank of Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre. The promotion, which becomes effective immediately, was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.

The Hartt School Community Division presents The Nutcracker Suite, featuring American Ballet Theatre dancer and HCD alumna Meaghan Hinkis as the Sugar Plum Fairy, and live orchestra by the Connecticut Youth Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dan D'Addio, on Saturday, December 18 at 7:00 PM and Sunday, December 19 at 2:00 PM, in Millard Auditorium at the University of Hartford's main campus, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. Tickets are $25, $15 for seniors and students. For tickets and information, visit the University of Hartford Box Office at Lincoln Theater, call the Box Office at 860.768.4228, or purchase tickets online at http://harttweb.hartford.edu/tickets.aspx. FIDDLER Composer Jerry Bock Dies at 81

BroadwayWorld.com has learned that FIDDLER ON THE ROOF composer Jerry Bock passed away last night, at the age of 81. This comes just one week after the passing of FIDDLER bookwriter Joseph Stein.

ABT Promotes Hee Seo to Soloist

The American Ballet Theatre announces that Hee Seo will be promoted to the rank of Soloist, effectively August 2010. Seo joined the ABT Studio Company (now ABT II) in 2004. She was named an apprentice with the main Company in May 2005 and promoted to the corps de ballet in March 2006.
