Rattestick & piece by piece to Bring 'AFGHANISTAN, ZIMBABWE' to Gym at Judson

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater and piece by piece productions have announced that Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, America, Kuwait, written and directed by Daniel Talbott, will begin performances Thursday, May 21 at 7pm at The Gym at Judson, 243 Thompson Street. The opening night is set for Tuesday, June 9 at 7pm. The production is scheduled to run through Saturday, June 27.

Clubbed Thumb Sets Lineup for 20th Annual SUMMERWORKS, Kicking Off in May

Five-time Obie Award-winning theater company Clubbed Thumb has announced the line-up for SUMMERWORKS, its annual series of new plays. Now in its 20th season, SUMMERWORKS will run May 20th through June 29th at The Wild Project (195 E 3rd Street) in Manhattan, and will feature productions of three new plays: D DEB DEBBIE DEBORAH by Jerry Lieblich, directed by Lee Sunday Evans; CARD AND GIFT by Kate E. Ryan, directed by Ken Rus Schmoll; and MEN ON BOATS by Jaclyn Backhaus, directed by Will Davis. Festival passes are now on sale at https://www.artful.ly/clubbedthumb/store/passes.

Leigh Silverman, Mark Brokaw, Juliette Carillo & More Set for Sundance Institute's Theatre Directors Retreat in France

Sundance Institute and the LUMA Foundation today announced that the two organizations will again collaborate to host the second Sundance Institute | LUMA Foundation Theatre Directors Retreat in Arles, France, July 29 through August 11. The Retreat is one of 10 residential programs hosted by Sundance Institute this summer, collectively representing 15 weeks of support and mentorship for promising independent artists in theatre and film from the United States and around the world.

David Van Asselt's A FABLE Begins Performances Tonight at Cherry Lane Theatre

piece by piece productions and Rising Phoenix Repertory in association with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater will present the world premiere of A Fable, written by David Van Asselt and directed by Daniel Talbott, beginning tonight, May 3 at 7pm at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street. The opening night is set for Thursday, May 22 at 7pm. A Fable is scheduled to run through Sunday, June 28.

Z Space Extends HUNDRED DAYS Through 4/13

Lisa Steindler, Artistic Director of Z Space announced today, due to the overwhelming popular response to the world premiere of Hundred Days, the new Indie Rock Opera playing at Z Space, that the show will extend its run through April 13. The show-part concert, part theatrical experience, conceived and created by The Bengsons-will add shows April 10-13 running Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 7 pm. Tickets ($15 - $100) are on sale now and may be purchased online at zspace.org and by phone at 866.811.4111.

The Satori Group to Present RETURNING TO ALBERT JOSEPH this Spring

The Satori Group announces Returning to Albert Joseph, a new play by company member Spike Friedman, as the spring production at theLAB@Inscape. This two-person piece, in development with the Satori Group since 2010, explores how language colonizes our brains, the difficulty of resisting the dominant paradigm, the opportunities that love provides, and the dangers of loss. Returning to Albert Joseph will be co-directed by company members Alex Matthews and Caitlin Sullivan.

HUNDRED DAYS at Z Space Set for Noise Pop Festival, 2/27

Lisa Steindler, Artistic Director of Z Space announced a collaboration between the world premiere of Hundred Days, a folk rock odyssey, and San Francisco's popular Noise Pop Festival. The Thursday, February 27 preview has been designated as a special performance to be included in the Noise Pop Festival lineup. Conceived and created by up-and-coming duo The Bengsons, Hundred Days redefines the concert as well as the musical theater experience. As part of San Francisco's favorite indie music, arts and film festival, the preview on February 27 comes days before the show's world premiere on Saturday, March 1. Hundred Days runs through April 6, 2014 at Z Space (450 Florida Street, San Francisco).

Lisa Steindler, Artistic Director of Z Space announces the full cast for the world premiere of Hundred Days, a folk rock odyssey conceived and created by The Bengsons. Produced by Z Space, piece by piece productions and Encore Theatre Company, Hundred Days tells the fierce, triumphant story of a young couple who falls in love, only to have their time together cut short by illness. To fully capture the most of their final 100 days together, the couple decides to live the next three months as though they were six decades as they imagine the life they would share together. Redefining the concert as well as the musical theater experience, this project resonates with the Z Space mission to experiment, re-invent and stretch boundaries. Directed by Obie Award winner, Anne Kauffman, Hundred Days presents a touching journey about love, loss, and life, leaving audiences wondering how they might spend their last hundred days. Hundred Days runs February 20 - April 6, 2014 at Z Space (450 Florida Street, San Francisco). Press night is Saturday, March 1, 2014. At the 2011 Cincinnati Fringe Festival, husband and wife duo The Bengsons, participated in a workshop as part of FringeDevelopment. Other artists participating in the Festival joined The Bengsons to rehearse and present selections of their new folk-opera, Hundred Days. Know Theatre of Cincinnati is excited to announce that The Bengsons will be returning to Cincinnati and will present an early showing of music from this new work. Performances will occur at Know Theatre of Cincinnati tonight, August 12, 2012 at 8pm.
