American Ballet Theatre's 2015 season at the Metropolitan Opera House was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. The season will be highlighted by the New York Premiere of Alexei Ratmansky's all-new production of The Sleeping Beauty, a revival of Lar Lubovitch's Othello and repertory programs featuring historic works in celebration of the Company's 75th Anniversary Season.
With influences of Italian divertissements to the Russian avant-garde, the New York City Ballet's All Balanchine program presents the pancultural genius of their founding artist.
The School of American Ballet's Workshop Performance Benefit 2014 on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 celebrated 50 years of these annual performances and raised nearly $860,000 for scholarships and school programs. The evening began with cocktails at 5:30pm in Juilliard's Morse Hall, followed by the presentation of the Mae L. The San Francisco Gate writes that Marc Platt, a dancer who appeared onstage and on-screen in OKLAHOMA! and as the fourth brother in 1954's SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS on Broadway, has passed away. He was 100.
Boston Ballet Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen today announced the programming for the Company's first-ever tour to New York's Lincoln Center, June 25-29, 2014. This tour will mark the final performances of the Company's 50th season, which launched at London's Coliseum Theatre in July, 2013.
