Amy Schumer Returning to Mohegan Sun Arena, 11/5

Presented by COMIX Comedy, Mohegan Sun Arena is excited to announce that one of the top stand-up comedians, Amy Schumer, will be bringing her blend of honesty and unapologetic humor for an 8:30pm performance come Thursday, November 5th.

Apollo Theater Executive Producer to Step Down

The Apollo Theater today announced that Mikki Shepard, Executive Producer of the Apollo, will be stepping down in June 2016.  Since joining the Apollo a decade ago, Ms. Shepard has worked jointly with Jonelle Procope, the theater's President and CEO, in leading the Apollo through an unprecedented period of growth of its operations, programming, and resources.  Together they have reinvigorated the nonprofit Apollo into a major presenting and commissioning institution serving local, national, and international audiences.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts to Present Black Violin, 11/14

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2015-16 season on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2pm with the return of three-time Amateur Night at the Apollo winners Black Violin.  Celebrating the September 18, 2015 release of their newest album, Stereotypes, this classically trained violin duo inspires young people to get fired up about classical music with their unique fusion of classical, hip-hop, jazz, blues, and R&B. Recommended for ages eight and up.  Tickets are $18 and can be purchased at BrooklynCenter.org or by calling the box office at 718-951-4500 (Tue-Sat, 1pm-6pm).

Jaap van Zweden to Lead New York Philharmonic in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23, 10/29-31

Jaap van Zweden will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23, with Artist-in-Association Inon Barnatan as soloist; Britten's Sinfonia da Requiem; and Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. The performances take place Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, October 30 at 2:00 p.m.; and Saturday, October 31 at 8:00 p.m. 

Tom McGowan Joins West End's WICKED as 'The Wizard' Tonight

WICKED, the award-winning classic musical that tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz, is delighted to welcome the American stage, television and film actor Tom McGowan to the role of The Wizard from tonight 21 September for a limited season until Saturday 12 March 2016. He will be making his West End debut.

Chicago Opera Theater's LUCIO SILLA Begins 9/26

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) kicks its 2015/16 season off with the Chicago premiere of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's passionate story of love, power, bloody conspiracies and revenge, 'Lucio Silla' at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance (205. E. Randolph Drive) Sept. 26 - Oct. 4, 2015. Directed and designed by COT General Director Andreas Mitisek and conducted by the acclaimed Francesco Milioto, the opera, was written by the musical prodigy as a teenager for Milan's Teatro Regio Ducal in 1772.

BWW Interview: A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING to Open at Apollo Civic Theater

Directed and musically directed by Jeff Wine, the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical revue A Grand Night for Singing will open this weekend at the Apollo Civic Theater in Martinsburg, WV. A Grand Night for Singing is an intimate musical revue featuring seven local performers and the classic songs from the Rodgers and Hammerstein repertoire from of many of their well known musicals, including South Pacific, Cinderella and The King and I. The revue also features lesser known Rodgers and Hammerstein songs and, in an interesting twist, places many of the classic songs in updated situations completely opposite from their context in the original shows. The cast enjoyed working on the classic music and getting to know each other in a smaller musical revue.

World Music Institute's LUSOPHONE FESTIVAL Opens Tonight with Os Mutantes

World Music Institute opens its spectacular 30th Anniversary Season with a four-night cross-cultural Lusophone Festival, featuring music from the Portuguese-speaking world with artists from Brazil, Portugal, Cape Verde, Angola, and Mozambique. From today, September 15, through September 18, back-to-back concerts take place at venues around town including Le Poisson Rouge, Drom NYC, and The Town Hall.

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER Opens This Month at Ogunquit Playhouse

Get out your boogie shoes and head to the disco with the mega-musical Saturday Night Fever on stage at the Ogunquit Playhouse from September 23 to October 25. This high-energy show features the Bee Gees electrifying chart-topping score along with astounding and dazzling choreography by Broadway choreographer Richard Hinds. The stage musical is based on the 1977 film that became a cultural phenomenon and cemented the Bee Gees as disco era icons and catapulted John Travolta to mega-stardom. Nicholas Meyer's The Seven-Per-Cent Solution, in a world premiere adaptation by City Lit Artistic Director Terry McCabe and directed by Warner Crocker, will open City Lit Theater's thirty-sixth season, McCabe announced today.

Broadway In Chicago and Emerald City Theatre have announced individual tickets for A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS by Charles M. Schulz go on sale to the public on Friday, September 11. A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS will play the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E. Chestnut) November 14, 2015 through January 3, 2016. Based on the television special by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson and adapted for the stage by Eric Schaeffer by special arrangement with Arthur Whitelaw and Ruby Persson,  A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS will be directed by Emerald City Theatre Artistic Director Ernie Nolan.
