The New Victory Theater Presents The Acting Company's AS YOU LIKE IT, 3/1-10

New York's The Acting Company, a TONY Honors Recipient for Excellence in Theater, brings Shakespeare's lushly lighthearted comedy As You Like It to The New Victory Theater as part of their 40th anniversary season. Directed by Pig Iron Theatre Company's Dan Rothenberg, As You Like It by The Acting Company will make its New York Premiere at The New Victory Theater, 209 West 42nd Street, from March 1-10, 2013.

CHICAGO, THE WIZARD OF OZ, SUGAR and More Set for Music Circus' 2013 Season

California Musical Theatre Executive Producer Richard Lewis announced a varied lineup of musicals for the 2013 season of Sacramento Music Circus at the Wells Fargo Pavilion, the 63rd season for what has become a Northern California summer tradition. The five-show season will include the Music Circus premiere of the Kander and Ebb hit Chicago; a production of The Wizard of Oz based on the iconic movie; the Wells Fargo Pavilion premiere of the American theater masterpiece Show Boat; the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic The King and I; and Sugar, the stage version of the classic film comedy Some Like It Hot.

The Acting Company and the Guthrie Theater present a national tour of Shakespeare's As You Like It running from January through April 2013. Rehearsing in New York, performances began at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis on January 13 and will run through February 4 before leaving on a cross country tour to 29 cities in 22 states. It will play at New York's famed New Victory Theater March 1-10. Dan Rothenberg, Artistic Director of Philadelphia's Pig Iron Theatre has directed Shakespeare's lushly lighthearted comedy. A delightful midwinter night's dream, ALMOST, MAINE by John Cariani will play TheaterWorks in downtown Hartford. The sweet and poignant comedy runs January 25 - March 3, 2013, directed by Amy Saltz.

Taylor Mac to Star in The Foundry's GOOD PERSON OF SZECHWAN at La MaMa, 2/1-24

Can we practice goodness and create a world to sustain it? This question, posed by Shen Tei, the good-hearted, penniless and cross-dressing prostitute of Bertolt Brecht's Good Person of Szechwan, is central to the work of The Foundry Theatre. The play's concerns, and the earmarks of the Foundry's new production, make it an ideal offering from the company, which is celebrated for creating memorable theatrical events while pursuing civic inquiry and social justice. The show, starring the singular Taylor Mac as Shen Tei, is directed by Lear deBessonet and features original live music by 'indie rock vaudevillians' (SPIN) César Alvarez and The Lisps.

Sally Wingert, Michelle Barber, and More Set for OTHER DESERT CITIES at Guthrie Theater

The Guthrie Theater today announced complete casting for its production of Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities. The production will be directed by Peter Rothstein and will feature actors Sally Wingert (Broadway/West End, London: La Bete, Guthrie: Appomattox, Charley's Aunt) as Polly Wyeth, Michelle Barber (Guthrie: Roman Holiday, Caroline, or Change) as Silda Grauman and David Anthony Brinkley (Guthrie: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Scottsboro Boys) as Lyman Wyeth in a contemporary and politically charged dramedy by the acclaimed playwright whose television credits include the compelling dramas "Brothers and Sisters" and "The West Wing."

Patti LuPone, Sutton Foster, Betty Buckley and More to Appear on Seth Rudetsky's Broadway Concert Series in New Orleans, Beginning Today

Five of the entertainment world's leading ladies will perform in New Orleans in 2013 as Seth Rudetsky's popular Broadway Concert Series makes the leap to NOCCA's Lupin Hall from its summer home at The Art House in Provincetown, MA. Patti LuPone, two-time Tony winner for Gypsy and as the legendary original Evita, will appear for two shows only on January 7th at 6:30 and 8:30. Sutton Foster, two-time Tony-winner for this year's Anything Goes and previously for Thoroughly Modern Millie and star of the ABC Family series Bunheads arrives for one show only on March 2nd at 7:30. Megan Mullally, two-time Emmy-winning star of TV's Will and Grace and star of Broadway's Young Frankenstein performs two shows only on April 6th at 7:30 and 9:30. Audra McDonald, a five-time Tony Award winner and recent star of Porgy and Bess on Broadway and TV's Private Practice will make her New Orleans debut with two shows only on May 18 at 7:30 and 9:30. Betty Buckley, the Tony winning legendary star of Cats and Sunset Boulevard will close the series on June 1 with two shows only at 7:30 and 9:30. The visiting Broadway artists will also be giving master classes for the NOCCA Institute's high school-aged musical theatre students. All five concerts are produced by Mark Cortale, long time producer/manager of Jeffery Roberson aka Varla Jean Merman, and will be hosted by Sirius/XM radio star Seth Rudetsky at the piano. Cutting Ball Theater Announces $166,000 Grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

San Francisco's cutting-edge Cutting Ball Theater announces that the company has been awarded a grant for $166,000 from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to fund a three-year residency for resident playwright Andrew Saito. The grant will give Saito a full time salary and health benefits at Cutting Ball for the entire three years, with options to receive additional developmental funds. The grant is Cutting Ball's largest grant to date.

The Guthrie Announces Casting for the Pillsbury House Theatre Production of BUZZER

The Guthrie Theater today announced complete casting for the remount of the Pillsbury House Theatre production Buzzer by Tracey Scott Wilson. Buzzer, co-commissioned by the Guthrie Theater and Pillsbury House Theatre, will be helmed by Tony-nominated director Marion McClinton and play the Dowling Studio from February 8-March 3, 2013. Buzzer was previously performed at Pillsbury House Theatre last fall.
