James Pickens Jr., Nicole Ari Parker and More to Receive NAACP Theatre Awards

The NAACP Beverly Hills/Hollywood Branch announced the complete list of honorees for the 22(nd) Annual NAACP Theatre Awards. The show will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 at the Directors Guild of America in Hollywood and will feature performances by Tichina Arnold (Everyone Hates Chris) and Shoshana Bean (Wicked).

In a unique special event created for Toronto International Film Festival audiences, Reitman directed a live stage reading of Alan Ball's screenplay for American Beauty. Sam Mendes' film about a family man's resplendent mid-life crisis premiered in Toronto in 1999 and went on to win five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Screenplay. The one-night-only performance included Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks, Woody Harrelson, Adam Driver, Sarah Gadon, Nick Kroll, Mae Whitman and George Stroumboulopoulos. Asner, Lahti, Howard Headed to CBS's HAWAII FIVE-O

EWonline reports that Terrence Howard will guest star in the third season of CBS's HAWAII FIVE-O. The Academy Award nominee will be featured in a series of flashbacks depicting Danny's (Scott Caan) former life as a New Jersey cop. The episode is set to air this October.

Rob Ashford to Helm CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF Revival?

According to an Equity casting notice, Rob Ashord is set to helm the upcoming Broadway revival of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof in the Spring 2013. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Scarlett Johansson, who won a 2010 Tony Award for her Broadway debut in A View From The Bridge, is rumored to play Maggie in the production. Those in the running to play Brick are Star Trek's Chris Pine and Johansson's The Avenger's co-star Jeremy Renner. Casting options for the remainder of the cast remain unknown.

Nina Arianda to Star in FELLINI BLACK AND WHITE Film

Tony Award-winner Nina Arianda will play Italian film star Giulietta Masina, wife of visionary filmmaker Federico Fellini, in Fellini Black and White produced by Andrew Lazar (Jonah Hex, I Love You Phillip Morris). The film, written and directed by Henry Bromell (consulting producer and writer of Showtime's Golden Globe Award-winning series Homeland) is set to begin production in early 2013. Arianda joins a cast that includes Oscar-nominees William H. Macy, Terrence Howard, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage, and Brazilian breakout star Wagner Maura who will play the title role of the iconic director.

The acclaimed Broadway production of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Emily Man, takes its final Broadway bows on its original closing date, today, July 22, 2012. The show is aiming to open on London's West End this fall.

The Broadway production of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire was awarded the Extraordinary Excellence in Diversity on Broadway Award for the 2011-2012 Season from Actors' Equity Association (AEA) on Tuesday. The show, produced by Front Row Productions (Stephen Byrd, Alia Jones-Harvey), received the honor at a presentation at Equity headquarters. Christine Toy Johnson and Julia Breanetta Simpson (AEA Co-chairs Eastern Regional Equal Employment Opportunity Committee) presented the award, which turns the spotlight onto those doing exemplary work to promote the goals of diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity in theatre. The acclaimed Broadway production of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Emily Man has cancelled its previously announced summer extension, and will now take its final Broadway bow on its original closing date- July 22. BroadwayWorld has learned that the show might be moving to London, aiming for a Fall 2012 opening.

A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE Extends Through the Summer; Now to End Run August 19

The acclaimed Broadway production of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Emily Man will extend its run through August 19, 2012. Streetcar began performances on April 3 and opened on April 22 and was originally set to end its limited run on July 22 at the Broadhurst.
