Eric Metaxes to Host SITC Debate with Dinesh D'Souza, Bart Ehrman, 3/5

This Monday, March 5th at 7 PM, Socrates in the City will present a very special debate featuring noted author and Christian apologist Dinesh D'Souza and self-proclaimed agnostic Bart D. Ehrman at The New York Society for Ethical Culture, 2 West 64th Street (at Central Park West). Titled GOD, SUFFERING & EVIL, the event will be hosted by bestselling author and Founder of Socrates in the City, Eric Metaxas. Just last month, Metaxas was the keynote speaker at the 2012 National Prayer Breakfast for President Obama and the First Lady. Past speakers at that annual event have included such varied and distinguished luminaries as Mother Teresa, Bono and Tony Blair. Among the VIPs set to attend GOD, SUFFERING & EVIL include legendary TV talk show host Dick Cavett, and Mark St. Germain with Carolyn Rossi Copeland, author and producer respectively for Off-Broadway's smash hit play Freud's Last Session.

Oregon Ballet Theatre unravels the mysteries of the human heart this season with the help of toreadors and tortured artists, country girls and conjurers in the just announced 2011/2012 season. Our Fall Program will feature World Premiere Petrouchka from Nicolo Fonte coupled with the World Premiere of Carmen from Christopher Stowell. The holiday season features the return of Christopher Stowell's popular A Holiday Revue and George Balanchine's The Nutcracker. The heart of our Winter program is the World Premiere of Lola de Avila's Giselle. In the spring we bring a mixed repertory program, Chromatic Quartet, which features Company Premiere George Balanchine's Stravinsky Violin Concerto, Company Premiere Christopher Wheeldon's Liturgy, Val Caniparoli's Lambarena and a World Premiere new work.

Images by Christopher Duggan, a Festival photographer for Jacob's Pillow Dance, are being presented in a solo exhibit at Dance New Amsterdam in New York City, June 23 through August 11. Festival 2010 marks Duggan's fifth season as a primary photographer of Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, which annually presents more than 50 outstanding dance companies from all over the world, and 200 free talks, performances, and exhibits. An opening reception with the photographer will be held at Dance New Amsterdam, Wednesday, June 23, at 7pm.

Classical composers like Victor Herbert, Jacques Offenbach, and Johann Strauss, along with 20th century lyricists Jerry Bock and George Gershwin, and the Victorian-era team of W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan will be featured when Ohio Light Opera opens its 31st season at The College of Wooster in June.
