Co producers, Erin Fogarty and Daniel Ulbrict of the New York City Ballet, present The 4th Annual Dance Against Cancer, the American Cancer Society's signature dance event dedicated to raising funds and supporting the fight against cancer. Guests enjoy cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres, as well as world premiere dance performances from companies including New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, Norwegian National Ballet, Broadway's finest, many more. Since its inauguration, Dance Against Cancer has raised over $200,000.00 in support of the American Cancer Society.

I have always told my ballet students that because the art form is kept alive by each new generation of dancers, we must be as proficient in historical styles as we are in contemporary techniques. The important works of the past cannot be hung on museum walls the way the paintings of the masters are. Instead, we have to recreate what came before us or else the ballets will be lost. Years ago when I made that speech, I was referring to the centuries-old ballet classics. Yet on the afternoon of October 13th 2013, when the New York City Ballet offered a mixed bill of Balanchine's iconic 'black and white' ballets at the Koch Theater, I was reminded that now the dance gems of the 20th Century

BalletCollective (formerly Satellite Ballet) will make its Joyce Theater debut tonight and tomorrow, August 14 and 15 as part of the Ballet 6.0 Festival, with the world premiere of The Impulse Wants Company, as well as a revised version of the company's Epistasis (2012), both choreographed by BalletCollective director Troy Schumacher.

Troy Schumacher, Director of BalletCollective (formerly Satellite Ballet) today announced that the company will make its Joyce Theater debut on August 14 and 15 with a program that will include a world premiere collaboration between Schumacher, composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone, poet Cynthia Zarin and new music ensemble ACME, as well as a revised version of the company's Epistasis (2012). In other news, seven company dancers will be featured in the spring issue of Carine Roitfeld's new high gloss magazine, CR Fashion Book. An online film featuring dancers Ashley Laracey, Lauren King, David Applebaum and Taylor Stanley will be released in conjunction with the magazine release.

As New York City Ballet's winter season winds down in its final week there is still plenty of news being made. Ana Sophia Scheller's debut in the role of Princess Aurora was a resounding success while Savannah Lowery sparkled as the Lilac Fairy.

Satellite Ballet will present two ballets that showcase the company's commitment to complete collaborationon Friday, November 2 at 8 pm at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, 524 W. 59th Street. Peter Martins, Ballet Master in Chief of the New York City Ballet, announced today that the Company will launch a new performance group called New York City Ballet Moves during the summer of 2011. Consisting of a small group of artists from the full company, New York City Ballet Moves will provide an opportunity to showcase NYCB's dancers and repertory in venues that might not be able to present the full company for financial or technical reasons. Martins will select a rotating group of performers from NYCB's roster of dancers and musicians to participate in the group's engagements.
