New York City Ballet to Host THE 4TH ANNUAL DANCE AGAINST CANCER Benefit, 5/5

Co producers, Erin Fogarty and Daniel Ulbrict of the New York City Ballet, present The 4th Annual Dance Against Cancer, the American Cancer Society's signature dance event dedicated to raising funds and supporting the fight against cancer. Guests enjoy cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres, as well as world premiere dance performances from companies including New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, Norwegian National Ballet, Broadway's finest, many more. Since its inauguration, Dance Against Cancer has raised over $200,000.00 in support of the American Cancer Society.

Producers Erin Fogarty and Daniel Ulbricht have partnered with the American Cancer Society to present the fourth annual Dance Against Cancer on Monday, May 5, 2014 with cocktails at 6pm (VIP ticket only), followed by a performance at 7pm, and a post-show reception at the AXA Equitable Theater, 787 Seventh Avenue (between 51st and 52nd Streets), NYC. Tickets are $150 ($300 for VIP) and are available at www.dacny.org.

I have always told my ballet students that because the art form is kept alive by each new generation of dancers, we must be as proficient in historical styles as we are in contemporary techniques. Troy Schumacher, Director of BalletCollective (formerly Satellite Ballet) today announced that the company will make its Joyce Theater debut on August 14 and 15 with a program that will include a world premiere collaboration between Schumacher, composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone, poet Cynthia Zarin and new music ensemble ACME, as well as a revised version of the company's Epistasis (2012). In other news, seven company dancers will be featured in the spring issue of Carine Roitfeld's new high gloss magazine, CR Fashion Book. An online film featuring dancers Ashley Laracey, Lauren King, David Applebaum and Taylor Stanley will be released in conjunction with the magazine release.

Peter Martins, Ballet Master in Chief of the New York City Ballet, announced today that the Company will launch a new performance group called New York City Ballet Moves during the summer of 2011. Consisting of a small group of artists from the full company, New York City Ballet Moves will provide an opportunity to showcase NYCB's dancers and repertory in venues that might not be able to present the full company for financial or technical reasons. Martins will select a rotating group of performers from NYCB's roster of dancers and musicians to participate in the group's engagements.
