American Theater Co. Announces Casting for Season 33, Featuring WELCOME TO JESUS and More

American Theater Company (ATC) announces complete casting for Season 33 productions: Janine Nabers' world premiere of Welcome to Jesus, directed by Artistic Director Will Davis, October 26-December 3, 2017; Basil Kreimendahl's Chicago premiere of We're Gonna Be Okay, January 25-March 4, 2018, directed by Davis; and Carlos Murillo's world premiere of Diagram of a Paper Airplane, May 3-June 10, 2018, directed by Bonnie Metzgar.

Set in an Alaskan cabin where Deb, a divorced suburban mom is attempting to reinvent herself as a righteous, liberal avenger is Grizzly Mama -- the final production of Rivendell's 2016 season 'The Body Politic' in which the political is deeply personal. Deb is fresh from the funeral for her recently deceased, famous activist mother. Her daughter, Hannah, is a typical texting teenager - that is, until she discovers the real reason why mom moved them next door to a certain Alaskan presidential candidate. A dark comedy about motherhood, murder and moose.

DePaul University to Stage Two World Premiere Productions

New work will take center stage this spring, as The Theatre School at DePaul University offers two world premiere productions in Lincoln Park to conclude the conservatory's 2014-15 season. Chicago playwright Laura Jacqmin's We're Going to Be Fine will feature the Master of Fine Arts in Acting candidates in the Class of 2015, and Theatre School student Jared Hecht (BFA Playwriting, Class of 2015) will debut his play Video Galaxy.

This production opens tonight, October 7, and runs through Saturday, November 15, 2014, at DePaul's historic Merle Reskin Theatre.

The Theatre School at DePaul University will present The Phantom Tollbooth, by Susan Nanus, based on the book by Norton Juster, and directed by special guest David Catlin (founding ensemble member, Lookingglass Theatre Company) as the first production of the 2014-2015 Chicago Playworks for Families and Young Audiences season. This production opens Tuesday, October 7, and runs through Saturday, November 15, 2014, at DePaul's historic Merle Reskin Theatre. Performances are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 AM, and Saturdays at 2 PM. Friday performances (10 AM) will be held on October 17 and November 7. A special Sunday performance (2 PM) will be held on October 26. There will be no Saturday performance on October 25.
