Asolo Rep's Annual Gala: Vive les Folies Bergère will be held today, March 2 at The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota. The largest fundraiser of Asolo Rep's season, chaired by Tammy Karp, Donna Koffman, Jules Price and Michelle Senglaub, will begin at 6pm with a cocktail reception and raffle, followed by a seated dinner, paddle raise, live music and dancing.

Week Three of Midsummer Night Swing will have dance enthusiasts dancing cumbia, Lindy hop, tango, and the Charleston under the stars in Lincoln Center's open-air ballroom in Damrosch Park (West 62nd Street between Columbus & Amsterdam Avenues) from July 5 through July 9. Midsummer Night Swing brings together people of all ages, at every skill level, and from diverse backgrounds for 15 evenings of social dance with music played by acclaimed bands from across the country and around the world.

Following critically-acclaimed runs at London's National Theater and Philadelphia's The Wilma Theater along with recognition in Israel and throughout Europe, The Temple Emanu-El Skirball Center and the Polish Cultural Institute New York present a one-night-only staged reading of Our Class by Tadeusz S?obodzianek. The cast includes Emmy, Oscar and Tony-winner Ellen Burstyn; Obie winner Alvin Epstein; Tony-nominee Boyd Gaines; Mamie Gummer (The Good Wife, Emily Owens, M.D.); Randy Harrison (Queer as Folk); Grant Kretchik; Obie winner Brian Murray; John Pankow (Episodes, Mad About You); Obie winner Austin Pendleton. The staged reading is directed by Cosmin Chivu and includes original music by Jesse Selengut performed by Tatiana Eva-Marie (vocal), Marius Mihalache (cimbalom) and Stefan Zeniuk (clarinet). Previously announced performers, Nina Arianda, Kim Cattrall and Hunter Parrish, are no longer available to participate in the reading.

On Monday night, funny lady Christine Pedi got to show off her musical chops as she celebrated the release of her new CD, 'Good To Mama' as part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series. She belted, she purred, she joked, she duetted with legendary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, and she showed off her vast array of famous voices to the delight of a packed house. The music of Avalon Jazz Band is inspired by the Parisian jazz scene of the 1940's: a mix of swing, Gypsy jazz and French chanson, with influences of Eastern European folklore. Their repertoire consists of French and American standards, as well as a few original compositions. Avalon Jazz Band is actively involved in the New York swing renaissance and, in the two years' time since its creation, has had the pleasure of performing for the French Ambassador and sharing the stage with renowned artists such as Norah Jones & Nellie McKay. Their charismatic vocalist Tatiana Eva-Marie creates a beautiful balance between wild Gypsy energy and the deep and stormy sensitivity of French jazz, inviting the listener on a musical voyage inside her imaginary swing caravan.
