Artist Daryl Zang, Shares the Universal Stories of Women with Solo Exhibit, 8/27

Elisa Contemporary Art presents Becoming, the first New York City solo exhibit of Connecticut Figurative artist, Daryl Zang. The exhibit will be held in the public art space at Saint Peter's Church in New York 619 Lexington Avenue (at 54th Street). The exhibit will open on August 27th and run through October 10th. An artist reception will take place on Thursday, September 12 from 6-8pm.

Ron Leifer, MD Releases ENGAGEMENTS WITH THE WORLD

In life, emotional pain can inflict far more anguish than physical injuries, and while wounds can heal, emotional damages can linger on for years, festering unseen until they manifest debilitating psychological symptoms that can leave a person crippled. Their intangible nature means that they are much harder to diagnose and treat than conventional ailments, but author and Doctor Ron Leifer offers his readers a way to soothe their hurts and improve their lives through a method that blends Tibetan Buddhism, psychology and psychiatry, which he presents in his new book, Engagements With The World.

Carner & Gregor's BARELY LEGAL SHOWTUNE EXTRAVAGANZA to Return to NYC, 8/5

Carner and Gregor have announced the winners of the BARELY LEGAL SHOWTUNE EXTRAVAGANZA V casting contest. Eight winners were selected from over 100 submissions received from college students around the country. Winners were selected by a four-person judging panel comprised of Casting Directors Michael Cassara and Jason Najjoum, Concert Director Marlo Hunter, and Concert Producer Alina Gutierrez. Carner and Gregor were not involved in the judging process. After four sold-out editions, Carner & Gregor's BARELY LEGAL SHOWTUNE EXTRAVAGANZA is back for its fifth year. The concert will take place Monday, August 5th at (le) Poisson Rouge. Showtime is 8PM. Doors open at 7PM.

Aaron Sorkin Writing Book for New Broadway Musical?

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, earlier this year, Aaron Sorkin withdrew as librettist of the upcoming Broadway production Houdini, starring Hugh Jackman. Now in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, he revealed that he's deveoping another musical for Broadway. When jokingly asked if he'd ever write dance sequences into his television scripts, Sorkin resopnded: ' Well, I'm going to be doing a Broadway musical, and there will be plenty of extended dance sequences.'

Lynn Craig, Christopher de Angelis & More to Star in PIRATES OF FINANCE at NYMF; Full Cast Announced!

The 2013 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) and Pirates Musical LLC present The Pirates of Finance a world premiere musical comedy written by Charles Veley with music by Sir Arthur Sullivan. Gary Slavin directs a cast of twelve including Lynn Craig*, Christopher de Angelis*, Preston Ellis*, Amber Nicole Guest*, Alex Krasser*, Janice Landry*, Heather Lundstedt, Carter Lynch*, David Macaluso*, Sydney Ransom, Deborah Jean Templin*, and Jacob Thompson*.

Berkshire Playwrights Lab Presents Anna Ziegler's LIFE SCIENCE, Now thru 6/30

Berkshire Playwrights Lab will present its first full workshop production, Anna Ziegler's Life Science directed by Joe Cacaci, today, June 19 through June 30 (press opening June 21) at Bard College at Simon's Rock Daniel Arts Center (84 Alford Road, Great Barrington, Mass.). The production will run Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm, with the exception of the Saturday, June 22 performance, which will begin at 9:30pm.

Audiences are sure to be delighted by the antics of seven brothers and 'wannabe' brides living under one roof in 19th century Oregon. Noted Broadway performers including Pittsburgh CLO alumni George Dvorsky and Mamie Parris will take the lead as Adam and Milly, along with an incredibly talented Pittsburgh CLO cast.
