Starwood Hotels & Resorts' Eco-Wise Element Brand to Debut in Syracuse, New York

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT) today announced that its trailblazing Element brand is headed to Syracuse, New York. Element Syracuse Inner Harbor will open in early 2018 as part of a massive waterfront redevelopment project along the former Barge Canal. Element Syracuse Inner Harbor will be located adjacent to Aloft Syracuse Inner Harbor, which is set to open in 2015. Both hotels are owned and developed by COR Development Company, LLC, and will be managed by Real Hospitality Group.

The Araca Project Announces Seven Original Productions

The Araca Group has announced the seven shows that will comprise the 2014 Araca Project season, lasting from September 7th until November 2nd at the American Theatre of Actors. Led by Matthew Rego, Michael Rego, and Hank Unger, The Araca Group is a New York City-based Broadway production and merchandising that has served, among others, Wicked, Urinetown, Rock of Ages, Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge. FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: COMES OUT SWINGING! Cast Album Out Today

DRG Records celebrates the release of Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway: Comes Out Swinging! (2014 Un-Original Cast Album) which is produced by Grammy Award winner Hugh Fordin, and is available in stores and online today, July 22nd. To kick off the CD release, Barnes & Noble (150 East 86 Street) will host an in-store appearance and performance from 4pm - 6pm. This CD marks Forbidden Broadway's 12th cast recording with DRG Records. Featured on the album are cast members Carter Calvert, Scott Richard Foster, Mia Gentile and Marcus Stevens, with David Caldwell on piano.

Dragon Productions Theatre Welcomes Karen Altree Piemme to Run 2nd Stages Series

Dragon Productions Theatre Company will welcome Karen Altree Piemme to the newly created role of Associate Director of the Dragon 2nd Stages Series. Dragon's 2nd Stages series launched in 2014 as a program designed to give Bay Area artists the opportunity to fully produce their passion projects with funding and mentorship with Dragon's staff. The series is intended to develop new local theater makers with the support of an already established theater company. LANCELOT to Play The Gym at Judson, 8/13-29

360repco presents Lancelot, a world premiere drama by award-winning playwright Steven Fechter (The Woodsman), and music by New York-based rock band The Head Set. Thom Fogarty directs a cast of four, including Stephen James Anthony* (Bway: War Horse), Lulu Fogarty*, Romy Nordlinger* and Grant Riordon. Performances will be staged at The Gym at Judson, 243 Thompson Street @ Washington Square South, New York, NY 10012 from August 13-29, 2014.

THE MAGIC FLUTE, MACBETH, CATO IN UTICA and CANDIDE Set for the 2015 Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown

The Glimmerglass Festival has announced its 2015 Festival, which will celebrate the company's 40th anniversary. The 2015 Festival will feature Mozart's The Magic Flute, Verdi's Macbeth, Vivaldi's Cato in Utica and Bernstein's Candide. The productions will run in repertory in the Alice Busch Opera Theater on Otsego Lake in Cooperstown July 10 through August 23. These mainstage offerings will be complemented by lectures, concerts and other special events.

The Jewish Museum Announces July Programs

Continuing the Jewish Museum's slate of lectures, discussions, and events, July 2014 programs include a performance of Minimalist music in partnership with Bang on a Can, inspired by the exhibition Other Primary Structures; a screening of Sign Painters, a 2012 documentary; and the next event in the popular after-hours series, The Wind Up.

The American Institute of Architects Convention Recognizes Savannah College of Art and Design for Three National Honors

Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) was recognized for three honors by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) at the institute's national convention held in Chicago June 26-28. AIA's elected leadership, jury members and component staff acknowledged the 2014 AIA Honor Award recipients, including the SCAD Museum of Art (MOA) as the recipient of the 2014 American Institute of Architects Honor Award for Architecture; SCAD School of Building Arts Dean Christian Sottile as the recipient of the AIA Young Architects Award; and SCAD Master of Architecture student, Adam Drummond, as one of five recipients of the 2014 AIA Fellowship for Emerging Leaders.

Excerpts from New FANNIE LOU Musical to Showcase One Woman's Voting Rights Struggle; Concert Set for Carnegie Hall, 10/9

A little over 50 years ago, on Aug. 31, 1962, an African American sharecropper who had spent most of her life working in Mississippi fields traveled to her district's county seat to register to vote. She was denied the right. So began the public activism of Fannie Lou Hamer, whose struggles for voting and civil rights spanned the next 15 years. This coming fall, excerpts from a new musical inspired by Hamer's life and work, written by playwright/composer Felicia Hunter, will be presented in concert format on one of Carnegie Hall's iconic stages. The one-night-only special event also will serve as a benefit for the Center for Law and Social Justice, Medgar Evers College, CUNY.
