Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT), the professional producing arm of the Department of Dramatic Arts at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, will open its Nutmeg Summer Series with the rock musical, Rent, running May 27 through June 6 in the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre (Lower Jorgensen). This will be CRT's first full summer season since 2002.

After Lookingglass Theatre Company extended its popular circus-inspired production, Hephaestus: A Greek Mythology Circus Tale it will close on June 6 at Goodman Theatre's Owen Bruner Theatre, 170 N. Dearborn.

Marin Theatre Company announced today that due to extraordinary ticket demand it will extend Woody Guthrie's American Song by one week. Bay Area audiences now have the chance to enjoy this stirring musical through June 27.

New York's OBIE Award-winning Epic Theatre Ensemble (Zak Berkman, Melissa Friedman, Ron Russell, Founding Executive Directors) today announced the cast and creative team for the New York premiere of Sarah Ruhl's Passion Play (In The Next Room… or the vibrator play) and directed by Mark Wing-Davey (The Singing Forest). The cast will include Brendan Averett, Polly Noonan, Daniel Pearce, Alex Podulke, Keith Reddin, Godfrey L. Simmons Jr., T. Ryder Smith, Felix Solis Jr., Kate Turnbull and Nicole Wiesner.

Beginning previews tonight, May 28 at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival will be a new production of EVITA directed by Gary Griffin. The show will play at the Avon Theatre in Startford, Ontario. Starring in the show will be Chilina Kennedy as Eva Peron and Josh Young as Che Guevara. Juan Chioran will play President Juan Peron, and Vince Staltai will play Magaldi.

Lookingglass Theatre Company proudly announces the return of its circus-inspired theatrical events Lookingglass Alice, adapted and directed by Ensemble Member David Catlin. Lookingglass Alice will run at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave., June 16-August 1, 2010. American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) will end its production of the famed British theater maker Alan Ayckbourn's hilarious rumination on love and marriage, Round and Round the Garden, directed by Tony Award winner John Rando (Urinetown, The Musical, The Wedding Singer on Broadway; Urinetown, Rich and Famous at A.C.T.) on May 23rd.

The Irish play that led to riots in the streets of Dublin when it debuted 103 years ago and became a comic masterpiece, The Playboy of the Western World, opens the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival's 19th season. With previews June 16 and 17, the play opens June 18 in the Schubert Theatre and continues through July 3.

Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the cast and creative team for the West Coast Premiere of Matthew Lopez's The Whipping Man. The Civil War drama is directed by Giovanna Sardelli and will run in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre through June 13.
