TAKE Dance Company, a contemporary dance ensemble known for its gentle blend of eastern and western sensibilities led by artistic director and choreographer Takehiro Ueyama, presents a program filled with exuberant play, human dancescapes and structural patterns that overflow the stage. The four-performance engagement will feature two premieres: the world premiere of Footsteps in the Snow, set to music by Arvo Part, and the New York City premiere of Shabon, set to the music of Steve Reich, as well as Love Stories (2008), a three movement pas de deux, and the beloved Linked (2008) inspired by the music of Pat Metheny.

Wall To Wall Broadway Brings The Tunes Of Great White Way To Symphony Space 5/16

As an annual gift to the city, Symphony Space has been presenting its signature music marathons since it opened in 1978. This year Symphony Space samples some of the greatest music from the Great White Way for Wall to Wall Broadway: A Century of Musicals, a twelve-hour celebration of the music of Broadway on May 16 from 11:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m., FREE.

WNYC Unveils New Performance Space; Launches 10-Day Opening Festival On 4/28

On Tuesday, April 28th, WNYC Radio will open the doors of its new street-level public space, The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space. WYNC will host a 10-day festival to celebrate the new facility. Special Guests for the celebration will include Brian Stokes Mitchell, Liz Calloway, Rosie Perez, Peter Gerety, Jill Clayburgh, David Rabe, Ayodele Casel, Paul Krugman, Lou Reed, Ira Glass, Jason Moran, Cornel West, ETHEL String Quartet, Joy Behar, Richard Goode, Sonia Sanchez, Simone Dinnerstein, and ELMO, among others.

Shakespeare Society Presents The Bard's Birthday Marathon 4/26, Plimpton and Cerveris to Guest

The Shakespeare Society (Michael Sexton, Artistic Director) has announced that the Shakespeare Birthday Marathon, a FREE five-hour celebration of the Bard's 445th birthday, will take place Sunday, April 26, 3:30 - 8:30pm at Peter Norton Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street. LE SERPENT ROUGE Dance Theater Satire Comes To Company XIV 5/15-6/6

Company XIV, a Black Book Magazine ?Icon Of The Future', proudly presents the World Premiere of the sensual, sumptuous and spectacular Le Serpent Rouge, a dance-theater satire conceived, directed and choreographed by Austin McCormick, with adapted text by Austin McCormick. Le Serpent Rouge will run May 15th to June 6th, 2009 in a limited 4-week engagement at the company's home space at 303 Bond St. (between Union & Sackett) in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. Official opening is May 15th.
