New Thriller by Bertil C. Nelson is Released

Anthony Maddoc was a young man when he entered the military, but he came back hardened by the war he fought in the jungles of Vietnam. He makes a new enemy when he enters the New York Police Academy and faces down a brutish training officer. Yet he goes on to serve the force for 17 years until a horrific event and a disappearance change his life forever. This new novel by Bertil C. Nelson tells the story of Maddoc's crusade for justice, even if it means taking matters into his own hands. Cancer did not kill Maddoc's wife, Marie; a home break-in and resulting fire take her from the man she loved since a teenager. To make matters worse, his daughter Sylvia, a kidnapping victim, disappears on a hiking expedition days after taking her senior exams. Maddoc leaves the police force and becomes an avenger as he works to solve the murder and disappearance. Yet he fails to recall that his daughter has skills of her own that enable her to manage almost any situation in which she finds herself. Maddoc takes readers on a roller coaster ride of suspense and thrills, and Sylvia and those she enlists to her plan fight unimaginable horrors and take a wild chance as Maddoc and his friends set out to find her. The Mafia, black-market babies, greedy corporations and scheming foundations, an old enemy, a hellish assembly of mountain people, a monsignor returned from Rome to have his say and an unexpected miracle all play a role in this riveting story of recent events and justice. Author Bertil C. Nelson taught at the high school, college and graduate school levels. He left public education to join KPMG as the national director of Education and Training. Nelson has worked in human resources and health care, and currently provides editing, writing and advisory services as a founder and principal with Canner Street Consulting in Lovettsville, Va. The author states, 'I built the story over 11 weeks writing 10 to 12 hours a day and spent five years reducing its 207,000 plus words to approximately 93,000. For me the story was an emotional roller coaster. I hope the readers feel the same.' Rubicon Theatre Company's MY FAIR LADY Begins This Month

The director and designers behind Rubicon Theatre Company's acclaimed environmental productions ofFiddler on the Roof and Man of La Mancha have reunited on the two-piano chamber version of the legendary Lerner and Loewe's classic My Fair Lady. Based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, the musical tells the story of Professor Henry Higgins, an arrogant and attractive phonetician who makes a wager that he can transform a 'deliciously low' Cockney flower-seller (Eliza Doolittle) into an elegant lady by teaching her to speak more beautifully. The magnificent score includes 'I Could Have Danced All Night,' 'On the Street Where You Live,' 'Wouldn't It Be Loverly,' and 'I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face.' For Rubicon's production, Director James O'Neil returns to the source material to explore the Shavian themes of class struggle, social reform and women's rights.
