CORKSCREW THEATER FESTIVAL Returns For Second Season This Summer

Following a well-attended and critically-acclaimed inaugural year, Corkscrew Theater Festival returns for a second annual season, running July 9 - August 5 at the Paradise Factory (64 East 4th Street, Manhattan). This summer theater festival provides early-career artists with a high level of production support and features five world premieres and four readings performed in repertory over four weeks. Special attention has been given to theater makers who are developing work through robust and innovative collaborative models.

Porchlight Announces Cast And Team For Porchlight Revisits DO RE MI

Porchlight Music Theatre concludes its fifth season of Chicago's "lost" musicals in staged concert series with Porchlight Revisits Do Re Mi, starring Porchlight Music Theatre's Artistic Director Michael Weber and Nancy Voigts, music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green and book by Garson Kanin, with direction and choreography by Christopher Pazdernik and musical direction by David Fiorello.

Mikron Theatre Company Present REVOLTING WOMEN

This May, Mikron Theatre Company will mark the 100th anniversary of women in the UK being allowed to vote, with the premiere of Revolting Women -Vashti Maclachlan's new play about the suffragette story as seen through the eyes of the political activist and campaigner for women's rights Sylvia Pankhurst.

Cast Announced For Seth Bisen-Hersh's Epic 500th Showcase All-Day Extravaganza

On April 28th, 2018, Seth Bisen-Hersh will present an all-day, wall-to-wall concert of his songs at the renowned cabaret club, Don't Tell Mama, to celebrate the milestone of his 500th showcase. The four-part concert (1PM, 3:30PM, 6PM & 8:30PM) will consist of 100 of Seth Bisen-Hersh's songs, including 3 world premieres, featuring over 70 performers and cast reunions from every musical that Seth has produced in NYC.

Charles Strouse To Greet Fans And Sign Memoir At DANCE A LITTLE CLOSER Concert

As previously announced, the acclaimed Second Act Series, which has presented an array of lesser-known musicals in concert, will celebrate the short-lived Charles Strouse and Alan Jay Lerner musical Dance A Little Closer at New York's Green Room 42 on Monday, April 16th at 7:00pm. Three-time Tony Award-winning composer Charles Strouse will be on hand to meet fans and sign copies of his memoir, Put On A Happy Face, following the performance ($20 - cash only). Part of a lifelong celebration of composer Charles Strouse's 90th birthday, this special event gives audiences the rare opportunity to hear this enchanting score.

Unicorn Theatre Presents VIETGONE

Award-winning pioneer playwright Qui Nguyen brilliantly chronicles the love story of his parents' meeting in an Arkansas refugee center after fleeing Vietnam after the fall of Saigon in 1975. It's a buddy story, an all-American romance, and a motorcycle road-trip adventure that reexamines how we think about the heroes and victims of the Vietnam War. Vietgone skips through time and roams the globe with snarky humor, hip-hop, and lots of sex. It's one ironic, foul-mouthed, bad-ass new play.

This week – Friday, April 6th, 2018 Harbinger Records is releasing CY COLEMAN A Jazzman's Broadway (Jamaica, Flower Drum Song, South Pacific) HCD 3401. Harbinger loves composer/jazz pianist Cy Coleman. In fact, they have undertaken an entire series of CDs devoted to his vast musical talents. The first Coleman CD was a companion to the first biography on Cy, You Fascinate Me So (an overview of rare songs by Coleman with as disparate a bunch of lyricists as Carolyn Leigh, Dorothy Fields, Floyd Huddleston, A.E. Hotchner, and even comic Allan Sherman). The CD got rave reviews and opened many musical theatre aficionados to the depth of his composing skills.
