Earlier this year the Broadway musical adaptation of the original 1976 Academy Award-winning film Rocky (which aired on Reel 13in February), made its debut on The Great White Way. The 1979 sequel Rocky II picks up where the first film (and the musical) leave off, with Sylvester Stallone reprising his iconic role as underdog fighter Rocky Balboa, the small-time boxer who gets a rare chance to fight the heavy-weight champion.
Christopher Barreca won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Scenic Design of a Musical for ROCKY. This is Christopher Barreca's first Tony nomination. His past scenic design work on Broadway includes Search and Destroy, Marie Christine, and The Violet Hour.
The cast of ROCKY, including Tony Nominee Andy Karl, Terence Archie and Margo Seibert just celebrated a major milestone- 100 performances at the Winter Garden Theatre. Universal Music Enterprises, Stage Entertainment USA, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Sylvester Stallone announced today the forthcoming release of the new original Broadway cast recording of ROCKY, on May 27th, 2014 (UMe). ROCKY has an original score by the Tony® Award-winning team Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Once On This Island), who are the album's producers; additionally the score incorporates the iconic songs 'Eye Of The Tiger' and 'Gonna Fly Now.' The musical, which opened Thursday, March 13th at the historic Winter Garden Theatre, stars Andy Karl as Rocky, Margo Seibert as Adrian (making her Broadway debut), Terence Archie as Apollo Creed and features a superb ensemble.

The stars of 'The Expendables 3' stormed the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival on May 18, 2014 in Cannes, France on tanks and armored cars to promote their upcoming film.
The film directed by Patrick Hughes, and written by Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt, and Sylvester Stallone. It is a sequel to the 2012 action film The Expendables 2, and features returning cast members Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. New additions to the cast include Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Kelsey Grammer, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, Glen Powell and Robert Davi. The story follows the mercenary group known as "The Expendables" as they come into conflict with ruthless arms dealer Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), the Expendables' co-founder, who is determined to destroy the team. It is the third installment in The Expendables film series.
The PG13 Film is due out on August 15, 2014.
The 80th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon is being held this afternoon, May 16, at the Marriott Marquis Times Square, where winners will be announced for Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and the much coveted Distinguished Performance Award. This year's event, which began at noon, is hosted by Broadway veteran Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
