Seven New Productions Headline Met Opera's 2011-12 Season

The Metropolitan Opera's 2011-12 season will feature the world's leading singers, conductors, and stage directors in seven new productions, including a world premiere, a Met premiere, and the first complete performances of a new Der Ring des Nibelungen cycle conducted by Music Director James Levine and directed by Robert Lepage.

The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust has announced that the 3rd Annual ‘Mimi' Awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater at Lincoln Center Theater (150 West 65th Street).

David Pittu Receives 2010 Creative Spirit Award, Given by Daryl Roth

Producer Daryl Roth has announced this year's recipient of the 2010 Creative Spirit Award: Tony Award Nominee David Pittu (LoveMusik). The Creative Spirit Award presented annually, honors a gifted theatre artist and provides them with support as they develop new work.

The Legacy Theatre Concludes 2009-2010 Season

Legacy Theatre's next mainstage production will be BABY, with a book written by Sybille Pearson, music by David Shire, and lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. BABY will play from April 16 through May 2, 2010.

Mayer-Helmed ON A CLEAR DAY Heads to the Vineyard in Jan. 2011

Following a developmental workshop at the Vineyard in the fall of 2009 and a series of concert readings this summer by New York Stage and Film Company and the Powerhouse Program at Vassar, the musical ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER - with lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, music by Burton Lane, a new book by Peter Parnell based on the original book by Alan Jay Lerner, and reconceived and directed by Michael Mayer - will receive a full production at the Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street) with performances beginning January 2011, it has been announced by Vineyard Theatre Artistic Director Douglas Aibel.

From Ain't Misbehavin' and Big, prolific team Maltby & Shire produce a Tony nominated Baby - in which three couples at various stages of life find themselves expecting a child. Sound simple? Well, in Baby 's revised, West Coast premiere, it's pretty damn complicated as life's unexpected changes do not always work smoothly. The GROUP rep has a first-class production on its hands that will surely appeal to a wide audience, especially to marrieds and those planning for the patter of little feet.

Briner, Moye, Critelli et al. Set For Tommy Newman Concert Today, May 24

The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts presents a concert featuring the music of Tommy Newman May 24. Performing in the concert will be Alison Briner, Melissa Wolfkain, Chris Critelli and James Moye. The concert is apart of the NYPL's Songbook series and is directed by John Znidarsic.

George Dvorsky and Sal Viviano Complete Run in CLOSER THAN EVER 4/25

Queens Theatre in the Park (QTP) and Bristol Riverside Theatre, in association with Neil Berg and Adam Friedson, will close its new production of the award-winning musical revue Closer Than Ever directed by Richard Malty. Jr. and starring original cast members Sally Mayes and Lynne Wintersteller along with Broadway alums George Dvorksy and Sal Vivinio April 25 in the Claire Shulman Playhouse Main Stage Theatre at Queens Theatre in the Park, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Flushing, NY.
