The Group Rep Presents BABY, Opens 6/4
The Group Rep presents the West Coast Premiere of the updated version of the Broadway musical BABY, book by Sybille Pearson, music by David Shire, lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr., based on a story developed with Susan Yankowitz. The production is directed and choreographed by Cate Caplin.
Cate Caplin has produced, directed and choreographed over 100 productions in theaters and performance venues in Los Angeles and internationally at the Edinburgh Arts Festival in Scotland. She is a 34 time regional and international dance champion and her work has been seen on TV, in films and in a variety of prestigious venues across the country and world-wide from the Paris Opera House to the Broadway stage. Ms. Caplin performed in the West Coast Premiere of "Swing!" at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center and won an Ovation Award for her work in the show.BABY opens Friday, June 4 at 8:00 pm, and runs Friday and Saturday, 8:00 pm, Sunday 2:00 pm, through July 11, at the Lonny Chapman Theatre in the NoHo Arts District of North Hollywood.BABY tells the story of three couples as they deal with the painful, rewarding and agonizingly funny consequences of the experience of expecting a baby: college students in their twenties, barely at the beginning of their adult lives; thirty ‘somethings', having trouble conceiving but willing to try; and middle-aged parents, looking forward to seeing their last child graduate from college when a night of unexpected passion lands them right back where they started.
