SDC Ratifies Contracts and Names New Board

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC) has announced that its membership ratified several contracts at the union's annual membership meeting held this past month. Attended by over 75 directors and choreographers and presided over by Executive Board President Karen Azenberg and Executive Director Laura Penn, the meeting also included the announcement of executive board election results and the presentation of the Joe A. Callaway Awards.

SDC Announces Garry Hynes And Martha Clarke As Winners Of 2009 Calloway Awards

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation has announced that the winners of the 2009 Joe A. Callaway Awards for excellence in the crafts of directing and choreography are director Garry Hynes for The Cripple of Inishmaan and choreographer Martha Clarke for Garden of Earthly Delights.

'END OF PLAY' Begins Run at Center Stage NY 4/17

Producer Allision Ferrier has announced the upcoming Off-Broadway production of BRANDT REITER's new drama END OF PLAY, which will begin performances on April 17th, 2009. END OF PLAY is a thirteen-character drama about Theatre, Hollywood and the cost of dreams. When industry outcast Jack Wells abandons his NYU teaching post for Los Angeles to support his young girlfriend's fledgling career, he finds himself caught between the depth of her ambition and his own tarnished soul.

WritersBloc Productions will present the world premiere of NO ENTRANCE, written by Alec Gutherz on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 8PM at the Access Theater, 380 Broadway, 4th floor. The official opening will be on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 5PM. Sue Lawless will direct.

Kail & Blankenbuehler to Receive Callaway Awards

The director and choreographer of In the Heights, Thomas Kail and Andy Blankenbuehler, are the winners of the 2006-2007 Joseph A. Callaway Award for Excellence in the crafts of Direction and Choreography.

DuBois and Jones are '06 Callaway Award-Winners

Director Peter DuBois (Measure for Pleasure) and Choreographer Bill T. Jones (Spring Awakening) are the winners of the 2006 Stage Directors and Choreographers FoundationCallaway Awards for 'Excellence in the craft of Direction and Choreography.'

New comic opera "THE MUMMY" gives 4 free staged readings Dec 4, 5, 11 & 12

'THE MUMMY,' a new comic opera with music by George Quincy and libretto by Thayer Burch suggested by the 1930's film, will give four staged readings directed by Sue Lawless, on Saturday, December 4 and 11 at 8 PM and Sunday, December 5th and 12th at 3 pm at The Actor's Temple, 339 West 47th Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues.)
